The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thread!
Apps get more power hungry -> phone needs to keep up -> repeat

iOS has really gotten better along the way, but, still follows the same cycle.

Ended up scooping the silver QCIIs yesterday before an upcoming flight this week and they are everything I expected them to be. The Google Assistant button is pretty cool but did take some getting used to. I don't really use much of the voice activated features on my phone so I found myself having to learn what it was capable of. Going cordless is going to be an absolute game changer when traveling .

First run with the QC35s definitely put them through the paces as I had one of the worst work travel weeks of my life. These were a life saver. I didn't realize how much of a dramatic difference a good noise cancelling technology has on your flying experience. I love how easy they made it to switch between two sources too, I usually bring my S7 to watch movies on so I can save the battery on my S8. Super comfortable, no wires is the best way to go for all of the stuff involved with flight travels. After using them on bluetooth mode for many many hours, I still had 70% battery life when I got home...crazy impressive. The Google Assistant button after I got it set up is pretty darn cool to help keep things hands free.

The only downsides I found were:
- They get a little hot on the ears and head after a lot of hours of use (I expected this for a full over the ear headphone)
- They work great for calls, except when you get another call dialing in. Instead of just giving you a small beep, the voice announcement takes over and completely takes you off of your call audio until you manually ignore the incoming call or force them to voicemail. That's super annoying but kind of is what it is I guess

Overall very much worth the price tag, hopefully I get a lot of years out of these.

I finally used mine for an extensive period yesterday (thanks to my toddler). I was always used to unplugging my QC15 from the headset when I had to get up on planes, but no cords was a really nice upgrade. I watched about 2.5 hours of video and the battery still reported 100%. My fears of not being able to buy a AA battery anywhere were probably unfounded. Overall, I think they sound about the same for movies - haven't listened to music yet.

+1 what Lee said about noise cancelling... flying got so much better when I stopped listening to engine noise for hours on end (and I'm a guy that sleeps with white noise every night).

The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. Maybe it's residual cocaine that the buyer must do to make the HomePod a realistic purchase?

It apparently has some very clever audio technology packed inside and sounds very good for what it is. But it's (very) expensive at $349, only works with Apple Music, and relies on Siri, who is really damn dumb.

My guess is the die used in the plastic is somehow leeching. I haven't seen the bottom of it, but why wouldn't it just have a rubber foot or something?

WFH today, which I don't really do with a toddler at home, but I decided I didn't want to go to work. He was in total meltdown because my wife made him come inside and take off his jacket. A quick QC35 pairing with my work laptop and I can't hear anything other than Pandora, even thought he's screaming at the top of his lungs in his room. I don't like noise cancelling for work, but I'm kinda wishing my headphones at work were wireless. :-\

Probably the best deal I've seen for a gangster router and a really good modem (that's the same one I had when we were in a cable neighborhood):

Hmm that is tempting. I'm still using the comcast garbage that I have to pay 11 bucks a month for. Wonder if the beam forming will do much to improve the wifi signal out on my deck.

I can tell you that the range on my Nighthawk is absolutely staggering.  I have to keep it in a closet and I still get wifi coverage at my neighbor's house across the cul de sac

Wow, nice find Lee! That's like $10 more than I paid for just the surfboard modem 5-6 years ago, might be time to upgrade that and my $20 Newegg special router.

You may not get 5G across your backyard but I would be surprised if the standard band doesn't make it across your property.  My 5G signal gets like the immediate area around outside the house, it would probably be more if I didn't have it stuck in a media closet.

I don't even get 2.4 out on my deck or outside in the back yard right now. And the router is on the same level on the same side of the house.

I went ahead and ordered it so I'll report back once it arrives.

What have you guys used to clean your iphone charging ports? My Iphone is about 2.5 years old and just this past week the charging port intermittently works. Before springing for a new phone or going to get it repaired; going to try cleaning it.

Last time we upgraded our phones for free, with a silly good deal from Verizon but they no longer offer it. Best I can find is BOGO.

$699 (Iphone 8) + $699 (Iphone 8) - $699 Bill Credit - $225 trade in -$225 trade in +$91 in taxes + $30x2 activation fee = $400 for 2 new phones. Not horrendous but still would like to avoid buying new phones. Anyone found a better deal?

Nice!  Definitely curious to see!  That's the exact modem I had as well and it was awesome.  If for some reason they don't work out, you could easily sell the router and make your money back ha
