Agreed, but you could've run 75+ cars @ 6 runs each last time if you had started exactly at noon, and not had such huge breaks between groups, and not had constant timer issues/re-runs...

Not complaining, just saying it CAN be done!

More coffee now,

I agree that we could have run that many people but you know as well as anyone that your not going to have an event that runs perfectly clean with no mishappens. Set-up got behind because the VMP guys weren't there to open the gate when they should have been. We improvised the best we could and started handing out registration forms and such outside the gate. Re-runs can only be avoided to a certain extent. The drivers were so close together it was hard to get out and replace a cone in such a short amount of time. Perhaps spacing the starts out just a little more in order to give workers time to make sure the course is set will cut down on re-runs.

Agreed on all counts... most of it was beyond MM's control and the event was great regardless. I wasn't criticizing, just making a statement about the things that will hopefully be avoided for tomorrow.

Chris and I will have a great course set up, tweaked, tested, and ready for course walks by 11:00am. The drivers meeting could be at 11:30 with plenty of time left to get cars lined up and rolling at 12:00 on the dot.

Also, calling the workers for the next heat to the timing table when there are still some cars left running in the previous heat makes the break between heats 5-10 minutes instead of 15-20 minutes. That alone can be as much as 30 minutes saved during the day.

Those two changes alone will easily make time for three heats of 25+ cars with 6 runs each.

See everybody tomorrow-

agreed, but the schedule always has the previous heat's drivers working the next heat which i really dont like. i think most drivers would like to wrench or clean up after their runs, so i agree that we should call drivers a few minutes before the end of heats.

I would just like to say that I thought everything ran very smooth today. It was my first autox and though I had only planned on watching, with so many no-shows and a desire to kill a few cones I went ahead and ran. I completed my 6th run in a wheelhop filled 59 seconds. I could have knocked one or two more seconds off with another run but there is always next time. And I'll have the suspension installed by then.

Also thanks go out to everyone who gave me a little advice. I needed it.

as always great seeing everyone... this one was a little smoother and we're continuing to learn the ins and outs of the whole process.

Thanks to all who came out and helped. Travis, glad to see you can turn and you had a good time.

I'd also like to know why some of you didn't show up that were signed up to drive?

It was great. Great weather, great course, ran as smoothly as can be especially when some car destroyed the finish timer thing. Whoever came up with the ghetto rigged timer gets madd points.

Great job yesterday everyone! It went smoothly and the few small issues were handled perfectly. I enjoyed my runs although the course didn't suit my car at all. But it was DEFINITELY fast and tricky, which was our goal when we started throwing cones out.

PS- I can't believe that timer transmitter still worked after being run over!

See ya at VIR in Feb if not sooner-

I guess the obvious question is, why the hell did his card say Corvette ZR-1 in SM2???

He was suppose to co drive with some guy in that car but he didn't show, so he wound up driving the car he drove down in. It's not your fault. Just trying to clear up the results for you.
