Dec. 18 NASA/MM autox

I think it's gonna be a full house on Saturday.

The weather's looking good and pre-reg is overflowing.

VMSC had an event scheduled for 12/19 and it was recently cancelled.

Prepare for lots of walk-ups "I'm not on the list but can I have a spot?"

Now might be the time to think about more cars, less $, less runs...

Supply & Demand - Raise the prices for walkon's, a bunch. Fewer will come on, and MM will get the same amount of $ as if several more had come on at the origional price. Call me greety, but don't forget about all the hype of fundraising needs for the GRMS 2006!

I'm out.
I think it should be an addition $15 for walk-ins, give 5 timed runs (instead of 6), and add on 4 cars in each heat. That would essentially tack on less than an hour to the whole event and would give us an additional $180 more than if they had pre-registered.

www.nasaracing.net Wrote:NASA-VA will be running an autocross on December 18th, 2004 at Virginia Motorsports Park in Dinwiddie, VA. Registration opens at 9:30 a.m. Competitors will be expected to tech their own vehicles and turn in their completed tech sheet to registration. Timed runs begin at 12:00 p.m. We will be using the standard SCCA Classing...

That's the most scheduling I think we've ever had for one of these events. Your runs start when they start

AutoXes are always a full day event. You dont run and leave. In addition to driving there are always committed to working.

WTF?? Around here they are 1/2 day events. Looks like you won't even be using the lot until noon?? You could run 2x as many cars if you ran some in the am and some in the pm. Gezz, I was hoping to be in NC by 4.

I believe that we are limited by noise restrictions at VMP - can't run earlier than 12:00, per an agreement between the track and the city (IIRC).

The neighbors complained about people being jackasses around VMP during events, so now we cant start until noon.

Not our deal, rules is rules.

picked up the equipment and NASA truck this morning. Also got 4 boxes of brand new cones incase we need them. We're only going to have 5 loaner helmets because NASA needed them for and event in Cali... so if anyone has extras please bring.

Called VMP- lot will be open at 8am. I'll have copies of all the forms, and I'll see you guys Sat. am. I'll be there at 8.

Sucks. Is this every day of the week or just Saturday? Just curious. Also why couldn't you run a split heat. 2hr committment? Run 1/2 the field the first hr, switch and let the drivers work and first heat workers drive, then run another heat the same way? This would cut down on the time required for people to stand around. All this depends on how many people you have coming and the # of workers required of course.

i think that letting extras in undermines the whole concept of giving people 6 runs. thats why we charge a bit more than other groups. i think we should limit it to 69 total in 3 heats and turn away everyone after that.

as for you chad, seeing as how i'm worker steward, we might be able to work something out, but dont make a habit of this...

Agreed, but you could've run 75+ cars @ 6 runs each last time if you had started exactly at noon, and not had such huge breaks between groups, and not had constant timer issues/re-runs...

Not complaining, just saying it CAN be done!

More coffee now,
