He will be fine in DE1/DE2 with a lower hp car. DE3 is when the major point by's start happening because 70% of people have 250hp+ and can sort of actually drive then.
From personal experience, some sessions you point by a lot, others you rarely give a point by if you are moving. All depends on the cars/who is driving out there. But, I do agree DE3 in lower hp car isn't fun when you have to point by a lot but the fun thing is you can usually keep it planted and they'll pass you with ease without having to lift. TT is where it gets to be a bit more fun, usually.

I like to dream big, and while it might not be on my plate for a while, it's at least something to get my hopes up and plan for when I am able to get a second car.
Also it's a good conversation between lots of experienced drivers. If anyone else is thinking of getting a "new" car, then it gives them something to read through

Hey Zach, how do you feel about coming back?
I drive a bus, so driving with my mirrors all weekend was no problem. Just be considerate and give early point bys.

Fuck that, never point people by in a bus. Run 'em off the road.

Actually Yes. Goes to the body shop in a couple weeks to paint match the trunk and fix the front bumper and then it goes up for sale. It's not mint but has a brand new clutch, Koni shocks, Strano front bar, prothane control arm bushings, C6 shifter, 50th anniversary OEM CF hood (painted to match the car). It only has 13k miles but because its not in mint condition ill be letting it go for cheap (prob. $23k with the CCWs, less with the stock wheels).
