I know it's usually $100 for a decent PPI. Do you know the price it was two years ago? If you can disclose that I've found that they typically want a few times more than what I would expect for any given job. Hence the reason I haven't had them do any work. When he said $5k to do the subframe mount reinforcement on my M3 I thought I misheard him at first. Nope. Bimmerworld only wanted just over 1k I think.

Closest BMW dealer is Charlottesville and most people don't want to drive there so they just pay the inflated price.

I'm all about some 3g MR2, but I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised when I looked up "BMW Z4 Hardtop" on the google. It's so beautifully weird, I love it.

Maybe, but other jobs I had asked about were similarly overpriced. I think they wanted $800 to do the intake valve cleaning on my 135i. Others on the forums were saying their dealerships were doing it for $400ish.

Shopping for cars online, a few hours away and I see minor accidents and no air bags deployed on Carfax.
What's everyone feeling about even bothering to look at cars in accidents? There is always a notion they'll be crappy or have issues. But, a lot of these cars in photos look 100% and I wouldn't be able to tell they were in an accident otherwise. Sent from my SM-T713 using Tapatalk

Carfax doesn't show a big percentage of accidents that do happen so if it shows a minor one where the bumper was replaced or something, I wouldn't worry about it. At least you know about it that way.

If the seller is really upfront about the accident and can prove that it really just was minor / cosmetic, I wouldn't be stressed about it (and probably use it as a leverage point).
If you remember, my Jag was rear-ended by some dum dum in an old Ford ranger. I took and saved digital photos of the damage that day and kept all of the body shop invoices from the repair (since it showed up on the Carfax). The new owner was appreciative of that level of detail and it didn't affect the sales process really much at all. People are such bad drivers nowadays I think it's actually surprising to find a used car that's actually been driven that doesn't have some level of accident / ding / unavoidable imperfection to it.

Alright, that makes sense. I guess the best way is to just drive and find out if it feels weird and inspect it closely.
Also, going to go test drive this in a bit. I wouldn't avoid a car just because it was in an accident, but if it shows on the Carfax adjust the price accordingly. The Corolla I drive was in a medium sized impact - airbag deployed, crumpled hood/fenders/radiator support/front rail.... once it was fixed it drives 100%. The only cars I would avoid at all costs are ones that have had flood or fire damage.
Edit: also, Carfax is a joke. The Corolla has been in the accident above and a second less serious accident, both reported to insurance and the major one generated a police report.... it has a clean Carfax. My Pontiac was in a major accident prior to me purchasing it... clean Carfax.
Why do people just post what they are thinking? Without thinking.

I would avoid them at all costs.

My E46 had part of the front bodywork replaced/repaired after the PO hit a truck tire tread on the highway. No airbags deployed, and he got a new bumper and half a cooling system out of it. Whatever. Anything bad enough to make an airbag deploy would make me really pause as nothing I'm looking to buy is so rare that I can't find a slightly less crashed example elsewhere.
