Do you think he originally planned to buy it and never drive it way back in 2005 when it was ordered? That must have been a tough waiting list to get on to just let it sit in a bubble for the next decade. I'm guessing his ROI will be pretty nice though.

SlimKlim Wrote:My old boss is selling his 2006 #6/50 911 Club Coupe. It has literally never been driven except by Porsche employees, he took deliver of the car and stored it in a climate controlled bubble. It was taken out occasionally just to run it or move it to the other side of the showroom, current mileage is 6.6.
I messaged him asking when I can come test drive it.
Yeah, he took it out of the trailer and put it more or less straight into the bubble, after having a little wine & cheese event so his customers could come and ogle it. Buying it was a lottery process, so his name was basically drawn from a hat and he was given the chance to purchase one.
Everyone's kneejerk reaction is "I mean that's cool and all but it's a shame it was never driven." Trust me, the man has never suffered for choice when it came to choosing a fun car to drive home. I'm really curious to see if it sells on eBay and what it'll go for, something tells me it'd do better at a high end auction in a room full of collectors, it'd make a great addition to Seinfeld's hoard if he already doesn't have one of the 50. Or wants one to preserve so he can drive the other. That's the kind of buyer this car is for, not some poor sap that has less than 10 collectible cars so that not driving this one is some sort of sacrifice.

Yeah he bought the sun visor with the eyes for it and had it displayed like that for a while after the movie came out.

Very bottom of the market 996 with high miles that appears to have had the IMS and rear main seals replaced according to the Carfax.... not a 1/2 bad deal IMO - http://m.cars.com/vehicledetail/#vdp?li ... =663913788

God love early '90s airbag equipped steering wheels.
There are no words.
Quote:Well, I've debated and deliberated over doing this for long enough, and I'm now putting up my daily driver capable swapped RX7. I've got clean VA title in my name with no liens. Asking $32k. I realize I'm not the cheapest on here, but my car isn't the cheapest either. I've been in enough rotary and swapped 7's to know the difference in build quality. Located in Richmond, VA. There are a few forum guys in the area that know me and have seen the car and will vouch for it.

Stainless long tube headers (can't recall what brand right now sorry) into Y-pipe through a SS silencer finished by a Blitz NUR Spec stainless Cat back. (collectors V-banded) car sounds amazing, I cannot get a decent, accurate audio recording though!
Driveshaft shop aluminum custom balanced driveshaft
Custom harness (forget which brand, PCM is in passenger floor location)
Oil cooler utilized with big AN braided lines and XRP fittings
Oil baffle in pan
Dakota digital speedo module
Dakota digital tach module
Momo Steering wheel (alcantra)
NRG hub with lock & keys
MGW short throw shifter (can't recall what knob off-hand)
Optima yellow top in pAssenger bin
99 spec front bumper and lip
Rear bumper & 99 spec tailights
Efini Badges front and rear
windows tinted
Side marker lights mounted on fenders
Shaved antenna (xm satellite antenna on roof)
NRG hood struts
Exterior is also a 9 of 10 as you can see (couple very small spots were touched up). Car was originally a brilliant black but car was torn down for paint, door and trunk jams painted pearl white (my favorite color on an RX7 personally). Fenders cut/rolled and done right. Antenna shaved. Windows tinted professionally.
Interior very nice looking. New mats, carpet, and many replaced interior parts due to age/wear. I noticed some of my pictures are old, the shifter boot is now connected to the center console piece. All trunk pieces present
(missing the little quarter sized sunroof manual open cover and the passenger door kick plate has broken tabs)
Gauges are real nice, especially at night with white LED dash instrument lighting
Stock Gauges all work, Speedometer calibrated perfectly for wheels/tires. Oil pressure gauge every once in awhile acts quirky like all stock FD ones. Custom HVAC knobs. The
Pioneer Windows APP radio double din
Speakers (Can't remember sorry)
Ls1/T56 was from a GTO pullout with 60k. There is under 3,500 miles on swap. Mileage on chassis is almost now at 103k. Odometer shows 66k but gauges have been replaced to nicer ones so that's off. The trans shifts up in all gears like a boss, but it wants a rev match to downshift into 2nd if in higher RPMs (friction cone wearing). All other downshifts and upshifts are fine. I just switched to Pennzoil synchromesh and that helped a little. Engine is perfect and tune is super conservative to a flaw probably. There's another safe 30whp to gain in a meaner tune if that's your thing. Cold starts, idle with and w/o AC, throttle let-off with and w/o AC all perfect. Stock LS1 heads, cam, and intake. Super reliable as is. Occasionally the car demonstrates the FD "click click start". It starts every time, but every now and then it clicks first. I just haven't bought the little kit and installed it because it isn't bothering me enough. I think it's only $50? PS pump just rebuilt.
Well I've praised and torn the car down enough. I have a lot of paperwork and receipts, this wasn't a cheap build as I'm sure you can imagine. I would like to offer it here on the forum first, as I would like to see it stay here if possible. I am a car guy. I love keeping the garage full of toys, but this one deserves to be driven more, and I would like to free a space up for something else. I'm sure I have left stuff out but this is definitely a good start. Feel free to PM me with questions and enjoy the pictures. https://www.flickr.com/photos/67509480@N...3514/page1
i'll never understand how someone goes through the time/effort to build something that epic, then only drives it for 1 oil change and gets rid of it. he also makes it pretty clear it wasn't cheap to build. i've seen this a couple times and its always a big WTF to me...maybe some guys just like the build and not driving.
if its a money thing, if it was me falling on hard times i'd rather pawn the furniture out of my house then get rid of a car like that  i can sleep on the floor

Sometimes the car isn't what you expect after the swap and all that hard work is done to it. Kind of like driving your dream car and having too high of expectations.
