88 Celica All trac turbo For sale
#1
Hi,

Eric Langbein is selling one of his 88 celica all tracs ST165.

It is a dark grey one, 184,000 miles runs...missing rear seats and rear interior, comes with spare motor (st185) spare gear box, and carbon hood available too.

white compomotive rally wheels with aes007??? or something like that new tires or stock st165 wheels available..

Car is near DC in Beltsville MD, if anyoen would like to see it over turkey break or get more details you can email him or me.

his email is ericlangbein (at) hotmail (dot) com

and he is pretty slow to answer emails as well but he will get to them eventually. he is moving to Pittsburg PA and would like to sell the car by December 1st...it just passed MD inspection, and is in decent shape...interior parts can be gotten from other non all-trac ST16x cars...

engine etc are stock, except for 2.5" exhaust I think. runs well...etc.

Not sure on price I think depends on what you take with it, car no extras maybe $1500

spare engine, $250ish
Carbon Hood (really nice) $550ish
Spare G-box $75ish
wheels etc...$ish

This car squashes DSM turbo all wheel drives in reliability and performance.

I can attest to the durability of the ST165 as we have tried to destroy our rally car many times....(recently running 32 stage miles with no coolant and a wastegate that was stuck closed).....new headgasket and decked the head and it si still powering our PGT ProRally car.

The alltrac is not known for its reliability either.....
the parts are also relatively expensive

I don't have any pics available..I am in h-burg an eric and car are in Pittsburg and MD...he is travelling back and forth a lot for his work.

As far as reliability the toyota ST165 we have been running, have been incredibly reliable drivetrain is solid...motor is same as in later turbo MR2s and gearbox has been flawless in our rally car, where lots of DSMs and SUbarus have lost gears or broken boxes on stages (especially in muddy/deep sand events and stages) we have had no problems with the driveline on our car. The rally car has 33,000 miles on it all from rally events and practice/testdays. we broke a tranny once adn it was due to a rock coming through our skid plat and fracturing the housing...

I'll talk to eric and see if he can snap some digital pics, he is not so computer literate though.

Sounds pretty cool. And makes me wish I had an extra 1500.

But you didn't say anything about how well this actual car runs...do we need to pick up the spare motor?

Eric is going to try to get some pics of the car...

his email is ericlangbein (at) hotmail (dot) com

the car is running good fro him, could use timing belt and h20 pump soon, as last change is unknown and water circulation is questionable.

This car has been reliable for him driving 4+ hours back and forth to pittsburg as well around Dc, and down to harrisonburg from MD, mutliple time is the last few weeks.

I have not driven the car, however Eric has been using it as his daily driver for the past month or more....he will be able to answer questions as to what it may need attention wise other thatn the already mentioned timing belt/tenstioner and h20 pump...good I dea to replace them all at same time as most of the work to do water pump is done when changing t-belt.

as far as the extra parts motor carbon hood, and tranny...those are not needed, but as you should know these cars are pretty rare and finding spares in junkyard is unlikely. ST185 motor that is offered as a spare is supposed to be a better motor than a 165 motor, but we can not run it in PGT rally car so we have no need for it. Same goes for the carbon hood...

we had it made for the car, it has vent hole above the turbo and exhaust manifold to allow heat to escape teh engine compartment. Steve Maxwell of Custom composites in VT made the hood, it mounts to stck hinges with hard points and closes with hood pins....very nice carbon piece, it is unpainted, and has stainless mesh in the vent....

the spare tranny is nice to have but the car has a good tranny in it talk to eric for more details....I have pics of the hood, on our rally car if anyone is interested in them email me.

We ran two rallies with it, before changing from open class to PGT.
It is extremely nice and light weight, fits all St16x cars.

AS far as interior parts for the rear of the car for sale, seats and carpets/trim etc are the same as St16x hatchbacks.......seats are same as all ST16x hatch and trunk not sure on convertible...
