Frankly, I think it's a great idea to audit these results. I have a friend who works for Raba Technologies, they did pen-testing on voting machines in Maryland. He brought a roll-up USB keyboard into the voting booth, and in a couple of minutes managed to alter the vote totals on the machine via the un-secured management interface. Scary.

My point was that this wasn't much of a hack... He removed the cover to the USB port and plugged a keyboard in - that's just about the extent of it. No password, no PKI, no nothing. And these things hold the information that determines who governs the country...
