I am REALLY REALLY impressed with how well the LS1 puts down power. The torque band is so linear and smooth that as long as you "roll" into the throttle instead of jump the car puts down power. No "hit" like turbos. (it almost makes it feel slower than it is)
Dooooo it.

There are 3 e-types for sale within walking distance of my house (and 2 are series 1). I almost get in an accident from staring every time I drive by the lot.
I've had a long term fantasy of buying a relatively solid E-type shell and restomodding the everloving fuck out of it.
Either a 2+2 with a chopped roof or a roadster with a top delete and ballersauce interior. Color scheme would be jet black with a red interior. Period-style wire wheels but in a 17x9 not whatever the fuck the stockers are. I'd do whatever brake/suspension/steering updates were possible on the chassis, I assume going from leaf-springs to coil-overs might not be within the realm of possibilities. For the drivetrain I'd pick an engine, trans and maybe diff? out of an E34 M5 and rebuild it and massage it for a bit more power, then shove it all in there with custom mounts/driveshaft/etc.
The end result would be a E-type that looks almost factory, but is a bit lower, a bit cleaner, and goes, stops, and turns better than the original ever did. Basically a "poor man's" Eagle Speedster, because maybe you could have it built for $150k instead of $500k+ :?

Don't get me wrong, I love classic cars...especially Jags. For my f-u money Jag though, it would be one of the 250 of these being made:
