looks to be more friendly in standing water conditions, and falken says grip is the same or better.

rubber compound is the same.
+ smaller treadblocks = overheat even faster.

I have 2 sets of the old tire, because Im not convinced the new one wont suck

From some thread on h-t (don't read there, got it from a friend).

"They're called the Azenis RT-615, and that is exactly what they look like. They uses light weight nylon sidewalls instead of steel (like the old azenis sport), and the tread compound is not supposed to get greasy when they heat like the sport does. The tech rep was telling me that they can be mounted with the large blocks on the inside of the rear rims to help produce oversteer for drifting or race tuning. They are aysemetrical and non directional, so you can rotate them front to back and side to side, and the sidewall is supposed to be as stiff (if not more) as the sport."

So apparently they don't get as greasy as the Azenis Sports? Can't back that up, but apparently it came from a sales rep.

They come in 225/50 for 15's, so I'm psyched. I hope my es100's last until these come out.

I'm just gonna wait for people to run them while I finish off my current set... there's always the MX if these don't solve the overheating issues.

Or the shaved FK451's Wink

235/40-17 might be cool for autox though.

is it just me, or does this tire and the old tire look directional? I've always wondered what the deal with that is. It would seem like water would be channeled differently depending on what way the tire was going. Certianly that makes SOME difference? Clearly I don't know much about tread patterns. :|

Hell yeah. Now I might have some non-shitty tires for track. I'm not a big fan of my Kumhos on track although they haven't been too bad for me.

Does anyone know when those will be released, and how much longer will I be able to get ahold of the older style azenis? I would hate to destroy one of my old azenis and have to replace all 4 tires because I can no longer get them.

I will have to see how the new azenis work out as I will be looking for a set to put on some 15s for next autox season. Does anyone know what the tread wear is going to be on the new ones?

People have heard rumors of Q1 or Q3 of 2005.
