What's your fantasy car?!
#1
Stole this from Reddit. Thought it would be good here. You can see mine below.

Body: Designed by Pininfarina - something with a nice low roofline.

Type: 4 door hatchback (yes, a hatchback with a nice low roofline, i never said it was meant to be practical)

Engine: Turbo Diesel V8

Drivetrain: AWD

Transmission: ZF 6 Speed Manual

Suspension: Something made by the ///M division

Interior: Leather, glass, carbon fiber, bucket seats in color options of red, grey or black. No crazy tech options, just a radio + bluetooth and a small screen for weather + traffic updates. A/C Heat ofcourse.

Wheels: Something made by BBS. Not mesh though.

Extras? ABS, traction control...naaahhhhh

TECHNICALLY the post from reddit says "If you were starting a car company what would your first car be like?". You can let your imagination go wilder when it's a fantasy car

If I started a car company it would basically be TVR.

Insane inline six
Rear drive
Tries to kill you if you don't respect it
Gets bought by Russian mobsters as a money laundering front and goes out of business.

Unpainted plastic / carbon fiber body
Seats 4-5
2-dr
Maybe not convertible, but some kind of open top that still allows for a track day. T-top or fabric top, with removable rear glass too? :dunno:
RWD
Electric with ~120mi range.
Tow hitch and small trailer with a diesel generator on it for long trips (and handy backup for the house when not being used).
Not cartoon size wheels, just some light 17"
~2500 lbs
AC (not climate control), stereo / bluetooth, ABS would be the only "features" otherwise:
manual seats, windows, steering, locks. No screens, just a few buttons and knobs. Cloth seats, no carpet
Think sports-Jeep-Wrangler-car, might end up looking like a Volkswagon Thing.

This is a fantasy car thread, and all you want is 120 miles? :dunno:

I like fantasy to be potentially realistic, otherwise my "car" is a light-speed time-traveling laser-cannon that also has a nice pool.

Out of all the ones, I agree with Rexie the most??? Weird

I also like the NA inline six or v8 , minimum 300rwhp
rear drive
Motorsports ABS
long-wheelbase (for a sports car)
2500-3000lbs
2 door 4 seats

Crap, basically describing a GT3....

2009 Z06

This has a key difference from the Mysterio in that it would not intentionally kill the occupants. Whether or not the end result is the same however, is yet to be determined.

This would make zero financial sense (if I was actually creating a car company to make a profit) but it would basically be an even lighter version of this with the Project 7 carbon fiber bits (minus the wing), the 567hp tune, Jag's AWD system and somehow engineer a trunk that could actually fit a set of golf clubs in it. And a power retracting hard top

There has to be some constraints. How much should the car cost? I mean if I could make any car I'd make a hypercar but in reality I may never be able to afford something like that.

Body: low roof line, wide-ish bodied, non vert (but targa/t-tops are fine)... a little shorter than the E36 M3 (108 inches center of hub to center of hub) but with the wheels pushed a little more to the corners (mini like)... no LED headlights

Type: 2 doors, 2 seats, front engine... 2500-2800lbs with light weight options, 3200lbs in steel

Engine: V8 with iVtec (aka vtec/vanos combo) 400ish hp high reving

Drivetrain: RWD with LSD

Transmission: 6 Speed Manual

Suspension: Geometry by the ///M division, executed by someone that wont have mounting failures... brakes by brembo

Interior: Suede, carbon fiber, bucket seats in black/grey. Just a radio with bluetooth and two well placed speakers. A/C is an option, heat is "needed." One port for a phone charger

Wheels: Volks/Enkei light weight 17-18inch

Extras? wheel/tire/brake option, quick steering rack, traction control on/off switch, ABS on/off switch, factory roll bar/harness/seatbelt combo, removable data logging/stand alone tuning, CF and titanium body panel replacement parts, factory exhaust/intake upgrades (STI ish options), rear view mirror with radar detector

I think if you can get a base car around $40k... and start adding light weight options, "track" options, etc would be $$$$ options

an AM/F type wouldnt be bad if they took out some of the frills, lowered the weight and cost.. and i think they are a little long too. have the motor rev a little higher (i'm waiting for Honda to build a damn V8 off their F1 tech)...

if TVR (brute-ish), AM (style), Honda (tech-ish), and Lotus (suspensions/execution) made an orgy child it might come out okay with me.

Tesla model X doesn't QUITE meet your weight or price requirements, but throw another $75k worth of massaging seats and AV at it and it's right there!

I'm not convinced that you need the boosted Jag 5.0 revving any higher. You're already going way too fast at the top of 2nd gear / bottom of 3rd for the street. You could drop the NA 5.0 into it and maybe wring it out a little higher....that would drop the weight of the supercharger / supporting components. Stock they are 385/380 so a modded version of that wouldn't be a bad call. What am I saying, why would you drop the supercharger?

You could also just retune the V6 S from 340/322 which is plenty of power for that chassis.
