Ugh. I really should. Maybe after it's, you know, track ready.

Speaking of... this weekend I would like to start with a few things to get her more prepped for VIR in October. Thinking I'll do some fluids (oil, trans, diff) to start.

Past that, I need to...
• replace a burned-out license plate lightbulb
• change shift knob back to OEM (buying one from DJ)
• buy stainless brake lines and new rotors, then install lines/rotors/pads and bleed fluid with SuperBlue
• find two more 8.5" DSII wheels (so I have a square 8.5" set) and put tires on 'em
• get a state safety inspection sticker

That will likely get me ready for VIR in October. Seats are an ongoing discussion so I will have to do some test-fitting before I make any final decisions.

The car is a TTD* (D + 7 points) completely stock. Felton says my ballersauce coilovers will bring that up to D+19. So, I don't really have much extra room to play without knocking the car into TTC - which I don't want to do. Yet.

I ran into a guy at Trader Joe's with a dipped teal MazdaSpeed3 with some metallic flake in it. Not my cup o' tea but damn was it well done, looked like a nearly perfect matte paint job, you wouldn't guess it was plastidip. Got chatting with the guy and its his side business, mixes up custom colors and sprays them in a booth with an actual spray gun. I've already nagged Jake to give him a call and figure out how much it would cost to dip this car.

Matte Technoviolet on some gunmetal or bronze wheels would be titties.

Like I've been saying, if you do it right, you can barely tell its dip. The problem is it takes nothing to become a licensed installer so even "shops" can give shitty results. I bet Flim Flam did an awesome job on Charlie's car.

You do have to be careful with the custom color scene though. Often they are really just experimenting. Mixing in normal pigments or colors not made by the dip companies can gave adverse effects and usually fade out much faster than a solid dip job.

The car is TTD* (aka, D+7 points) completely stock. Felton claims my ballersauce coilovers make it D+19. I think you move up a class at 24 points. So... I need to watch it here. And perhaps read the rules so I actually know how many points I have accumulated.

Also, mein gott this is a fun car. I haven't thought about the ST since I brought this home.

I do like some of them quite a bit.

OK, so for points, it looks like...

The car "base classes" as TTD* which is TTD + 7 points. Beyond that, street tires with 200 treadwear (aka Star Spec-ish) add +2. Shocks are +3 and springs are +2. If I upgrade the sway bars, that's another +2.

So, as it sits, if I add sticky street tires, it'll be TTD + 14. You move up a class once you hit +20.

X-brace is +3 points (if you have it), any reinforcements to the chassis such as RTAB reinforcements are +3 if I remember right.

Minimum weight is 3176 with driver, so you will be about 100lbs overweight once you swap to new seats which isnt that bad at all.

I have a ton of 2.5-inch piping that ill probably have some leftover after I build my sedan's exhaust. Could build a decent intake from that.

I do not have an X-Brace that I know of. Unless the PO had one put on, which I highly doubt.

Let's talk after you get that exhaust done.

I kind of forgot they made the 4 door e36 M3's. This makes me want one for a daily driver. I want something I can actually fit stuff in that isn't boring. They have fold down seats as an option right?

Yeah, but they are hard to find. DJ's LS-swap sedan has them and I wish mine did.

And apparently its some fab work to make a fold-down from a non-fold down...not worth it. Find one if you care, Jake didnt because...track car!/Pace car!

I was doing some reading on it. Apparently it was standard for a while, then after 96 it switched to being an option with less than 1/3 of them having it.

I did see a lot of people claiming the non-fold down seat sedans were stiffer, so it's probably best for track purposes that yours didn't have the fold down seats anyway.

Any minor stiffness differences are inconsequential when you have a cage. Das Pace better be Das GTS2, just needs a cage, safety equipment, a HomeDepotRacing splitter and a wing.
