~60 days out, so I better get all the parts I need ordered. I realized since most likely I will be hooning around and maybe taking it on track, a few oil upgrades are in order. I am receiving an LS6 oil pump from Brian Bowers, and ordered an improved racing oil pan baffle:

I will also be doing my intake manifold and valve covers in black wrinkle. So my throttle cable color is a stupid decision, but I am having a hard time deciding...

Black or braided? I am leaning towards braided for a little bling amongst the black.

Braided. It's so hard core. Good for at least 2hp.

I think you forgot the part where you're putting a Corvette engine in your car. "Stealth" only goes so far

Hey now...its a stock silver sedan... Wink

Ordered a bunch of steering rack fittings/fuel fittings that are needed along with oil pan/valve cover/exhaust manifold gaskets. I think I will be updating my original post with part #s and parts required for the swap. No one seems to detail the exact parts needed, and the information is all over the place, plus me having to measure and get stuff.

Parts are rolling in quickly, and I just booked my hotel for H20i; so time to get busy.

Spent some time cleaning and washing the LS6 intake manifold, squeaky clean inside and out Smile. The main work to be done was in the garage though. I installed the LS6 rear steam port block off plates in the rear, and went work on installing the ls6 valley cover.

The LS6 valley cover is a large improvement in breathing for the LS motors. Instead of breathing off the valve covers, it goes from the valley cover (in middle of motor). However the LS1 has a small tab that you have to grind/cut away.

You can see it with the pool of oil in the upper left hand corner of the valley.

After covering it up thoroughly (multiple layers as any shavings would fall onto the crank/cam! I went to work with the angle grinder and made quick work of the aluminum.

Comparison of new LS6 Valley cover to old LS1. I love GM parts, was relatively cheap, came with new gasket, and new bolts! You can see the breather in the pics.

Also the springs/retainers and improved racing oil pan baffle came in yesterday along with the GM LS2 timing chain upgrade. Went with Brian Tooley dual valve springs, and steel retainers for maximum longevity and performance.

I don't know if I'll be fortunate enough to make it through life without eventually learning about LSx stuff, but I'm blissfully ignorant of it all now.

Having fun watching the project though!

Do you still need the spring tool? Things are crazy so I won't have time to help install before vacation next week but I can bring it to NOVA this week and meet up to deliver. It's pretty straight forward to use:

I have a little bit of a rub near lock but if you are turned to lock on a track there are other problems already...
