Our 1st P Car (Cayman S)
#1
[Image: IMG_1265.JPG]

So we picked up this '06 Cayman S yesterday. I had wanted a Cayman for some time and the wife sort of suggested it out of the blue, and I certainly wasn't going to argue. Car has 26k miles on it, was owned by a Navy fighter pilot, and I already got pulled over in it (escaped a ticket thankfully). More to follow.

Her name is Vroomhilda. (Piali came up with that idea btw)

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

At least it doesn't take him a 9 page thread to buy a car.

So silver actually wasn't one of the colors I wanted, but this one was low miles and had some very nice extra goodies so we chose this one. I have to look it up, but it has a very nice Pioneer touchscreen head unit with bluetooth/sd card/yadda yadda. It also has a fully integrated (and hidden) Passport radar detection system. All of the controls are hidden neatly in the center console, and the sensors are discreetly hidden in the front and rear bumpers.

Honestly I probably won't use the radar system much, I don't really speed that much (in cars) anyway.

As far as plans, it was really Piali's idea to get this car before kids arrive. So we'll have this car for about 1.5-2 years. Since we won't have it that long, I don't think I'll get into much modifying, except that I might get some black or gunmetal wheels for it. If I can find an exhaust that fits the bill, maybe I'll spring for that but we'll see.

Stay away from fabspeed, we have had nothing but terrible luck on them in the Bodymotion race cars. Terrible quality, fall apart, don't fit right, etc.

Best thing you can do is get some camber, pull out some factory toe closer to zero (not completely zero on a cayman!), and get some stickier rubber.

Also, hope you come and do some autox, but (and I highly doubt you would do this to that nice of a car), DONT track it. The cayman's would burn through almost a full set of pads in the rear in 2 sessions because of the "brakes pretending to be an LSD" in the rear.
