How bout them skins?
No need to be butthurt. They haven't said if its a full tear or partial yet. If dr andrews says it needs to be surgically repaired it could be a 9-12 month timeline meaning missing part or all of next season. I doubt he would miss the whole season but it is two different tears. Don't forget he has already torn the right acl as well.

Edit: forgot to post the link. <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.hogshaven.com/2013/1/7/3846532/rgiii-injury-knee-redskins-robert-griffin-torn-acl">http://www.hogshaven.com/2013/1/7/38465 ... n-torn-acl</a><!-- m -->

if the ACL and LCL damage requires surgery (even if partial), he is most likely out for the entire next season. adrian peterson's 9 month recovery was an anomoly.
its still possible that it wont require surgery.....

but either way,
fuck you, shanahan. fuck you right in the ass :finger:

20 dollars says Daniel Snyder is behind keeping him in the game. I wouldn't put it past him to sacrifice Shanahan for the sake of a Superbowl run.

Did you live under a rock this year, or are you just conveniently ignoring the fact the 2 of the 5 best running backs in the league tore their ACLs in the past 18 months....

To be fair, that's definitely not normal and i believe that was AD's first tear, not his second. i would imagine it gets harder and harder to both repair and recover.

Sooo, how about those Redskins?

At this point it looks like even if RG3 were healthy, the Redskins defense (particularly the secondary) is in shambles and they're simply not going to be able to stop any of the better passing teams in the NFL. It'll be interesting to see next week how they fare against the Lions, but I have to think that going up against the best receiver in the league is not going to go well.

Of course some people are talking about benching RG3, but I don't think that's going to be enough. Personally I think they should put Cousins in. RG3 can swear up and down that his knee is 100% but he wouldn't be wearing a brace if that knee were 100%. And he definitely isn't as dynamic and explosive as he was last year. It just seems like the risk is not worth it, especially considering that Washington traded away the future to get the guy.

Even as an Eagles fan, I have to agree. I have no idea why they started him as a second year guy, who saw no pre-season snaps and was recovering from what is still a very serious injury. Especially a guy who relies so much on at his legs.

looks like to me they were more afraid of him being mad than doing what is right for him. Cousins is good, but he wasn't going to go all Kaepernick on him either.

This looks bad. It is multi-faceted bad. The offense isn't what it was last year, but it's also not what it was years ago (thank god). The defense... was supposed to be pretty damned good. It's abysmal. That's where to start.

And yeah, no way RG3 should be playing STILL.

Defenses aren't afraid of RGIII running out of the pocket now. With him adjusting to the pocket passing game the Redskins could struggle for a while.

Seems like I'm on opposite side of most redskins fans, keep RG3 in there. He is the franchise quarterback, not Cousin's. If he isn't putting himself into a position to get injured again (unlike the Seattle playoff game) then he should be out there. Learn how to overcome a slow start, etc.

I just think that everyone who says to bench RG3 and put Cousin's in is a typical DC fan. Did you really think we have the team to goto the super bowl right now with how the defense is playing, and receiver's who seem to not be able to catch squat.

Benching him is retarded. He needs MORE playing time, not less.
Unless he is somehow at higher risk of injury, and I havent seen anything to make me believe that.

That's my concern, that he's risking another injury. If it's just rust, then yeah he just needs to keep playing. But, he came back in 8 months when even AP took 9 months and AP only tore one ligament, and it was AP's first reconstruction. When AP came back, he wasn't wearing a knee brace. All of those things together (and his gameplay) make me think the injury is not fully healed.

If the injury is not fully healed, he risks damaging it again. If he damages it again, it could be a career ender.

So let's say you take the risk, what do the Skins get out of it? Would the Skins have a reasonable chance of a superbowl run, especially given how bad the defense looks? Would they even make the playoffs? If the answer to question 1 is a definite "no", and the answer to question 2, is a probable "no", what's the point of risking your franchise quarterback? This is a guy that is supposed to be the cornerstone to your franchise for hopefully 7 to 10 years. A career ending or hampering injury would be a disaster.

The point of putting Cousins in would be to make sure RG3 is fully healed. That is a tough decision to make in any sport, but professional sports is littered with broken careers of guys who came back too early and never got back to where they were before. Franchises that win consistently, are the ones that can make the tough decisions.

It looks like the Skins are gonna keep playing RG3, I just sincerely hope he doesn't get hurt again. I honestly don't care about the outcome of the games at this point, I just hope his health comes out intact.

I agree 100%, and that was my opinion in the offseason, that I didnt want to see RG3 in a game until week 9 or 10 at the earliest.

But the problem is that he has been 'cleared' by the doctors, he says he is 100% and has no obvious physical limp, but most importantly he is already playing.

how do you un-ring that bell and say "just kidding he actually isnt all the way healed yet oh hi kirk come on in and play."

No obvious physical limp maybe but have you seen his mechanics? He puts no weight on that leg and doesn't plant anymore. He throws with his body facing straight instead of sideways. It's obvious he is holding back no matter what he says. Not being a skins fan I don't have a dog in this fight but it just seems silly to rush him back to the field when you guys really have no chance of being a Super Bowl contender.

I think that's the biggest problem, that bridge has been crossed. It looks real bad now if you bench him, even though he probably shouldn't have started to begin with.

I totally agree, they should not have started him in week 1 in the first place. Don't know if they were buying into the "All in for Week One" hype or if they were just greedy, or even cowardly. RG3 is gonna say he's 100%, but you can't trust his word now. He said he was fine in the Seahawks game.

Now it's one of those tough decision points. To be a champion sometimes you've got to make the right long term decision even if the fans, the press, and the player (or players) will be pissed at you. The Skins will look bad if they pull RG3 now, but no one will complain when you get the ring(s).

The Bulls had a similar situation when Michael Jordan broke his foot. He wanted to come back earlier than they brought him back, then when they let him play, they limited his minutes. One of the doctors said he was ready to play, another one didn't. In the end the GM took the conservative route. Who knows if he would've been fine if they brought him back early, but the lesson is that they went on to win 6 championships with him.

Doctors will say whatever they're paid to say. Not sitting him because you've already played him sounds an escalation commitment that's not worth it given how bad the defense is. Admitting the mistake, IMO, is better than keeping him in there because anything else makes you look week.
