I saw DJ in Peter Tyson's SM car and waved at a silver STi on the beltway (going back to VA) with an MM sticker. Anyone on here?

Yep that was me!

I will have to introduce myself at some point- could use some pointers and advice from the STU veterans. Definitely a frustrating day with losing my only dry run to timing error

Yeah, that was the least fun day of autox I've had in a while. I'll keep an eye out next time and try to say hi (I'm usually in a Flyers or Phillies hat)

Rain came in? Unfun when the rest of the field didnt get rain, trust me ive had that hpapen like 3 times to me. Just the name of the game.

Peter and I were there having fun, and trying to get his car worked out. It was starting to get real nice and neutral by the end of our changes. I still have to go through all the data I collected....too much Tongue

David, if you want we can find another double-header weekend and I can try to help you out if you want. I was helping David Wampler set up his STi for STU, and managed to get good time out of that car by the end.

Coned every single run Sunday, bummer. Weather was good, I was not. Overdriving as usual I think.

SM only got 2 dry runs two events ago. Last run group, similar situation. Sucked but it worked out for me, got a clean run in for run two right before it started to pour. Got to change r-comps in the rain. At least you were spared that.

There's a double header weekend next weekend. CDC Saturday/SCCA Sunday.

Sounds like another dream weekend. SCCA is dumb, but that last course was actually very VERY good. I might make it out to a few now. It is unreasonably expensive for 3/4 runs but oh well. Guess I need to renew my SCCA membership.

You wanna co-drive again? I'll run afternoon so long day. Probably 10-5 or 10-6. Maybe you should just hop in an STU car, they run in the AM hah.

Id absolutely love to, I think we were making good progress on the car, although that one bump did come as a huge surprise. Ive been thinking about how the car handled and im inclined to beleive something is binding up back there. Legit, thats the highest jump ive ever felt in a car on an autox course. Checked your sway-bar endlinks for binding at resting height? Your more than welcome to stop by anytime and throw the car up on the open deck trailer as its insanely easy to adjust endlinks on it while the car has full weight and settled. The car was definitely getting better as my first few runs it was popping a lot more frequently but settled down with the adjustments we made, aside from the one HUGE pop.

Either way, that was my first time on A6s...oh shieeetttt. Now I know why everybody gets addicted to those things.

I will have to see if I can, as ill be 5 hours away saturday night.

I figured the odds of you waking up sober/early enough to make it back to Northern VA were pretty poor. Oh well, the season ain't over, but WDCR-SCCA will be. Next time for sure.

By run 4, according to David L, we were both carrying the inside tire the entire first corner. Not bad for sealed pavement.

I'll be there again. Hopefully in the dry...

Peter is there any reason you can't run that in BSP as an M3? Is it just because they didn't make M3s in 1993?

I believe it's because it's a motor-swapped 325is?

Well yeah, but if you swap enough parts over, at some point it'd be legally an M3. I forgot that it was a '93 though, that's probably not overcomable Smile

I guess technically by VIN number it's a DSP car with an m3 motor, so SM. I don't think you can argue that the 325is and m3 chassis are exactly the same, especially because my car only came with one airbag. It's not a big deal really. SM has always been a catch-all class. Back when I was in SM on street tires, I used to battle it out with whatever other street ricers showed up. Now I stick around because I like the people, enjoy battling that Volvo jalopy, and honestly it doesn't matter that much anyway.

Also BSP is kind of weak. There are like 3 regulars in that class, and only one of them is fast. I'm about $4-5,000 from a decent BSP/DSP build anyway. Then I get to shell out $1,500 in tires per season. Yuck.

STX though, maybe soon. Car is a differential and a motor/transmission from STX. I say this every season. Purple crack is so addicting. Looks like I'm running STU on Sunday anyway.
