i don't care for red dead. i was excited by it and disappointed.
i'm more about the gameplay than the story and i love to be inundated with gear.

I find the options overwhelming... this is why I didn't like Borderlands. I like linear, methodical games with cool graphics and people getting dead.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth
i can't stand linear.

Speaking of Borderlands, the girlfriend just picked me up the game of the year version with all the DLC the other day.
The game is ok, but there are a few things that I'm surprised they didn't include. Such as, why the hell can't I build or buy the gun I want? Sure, there are those little vending machines everywhere, but if I decide I want some sort of awesome corrosive combat rifle, I gotta search the freaking universe to find it!
And another thing, why isn't there a storage area for all of the cool collectible weapons you find? I wouldn't have minded holding on to some of the boss guns, but I sell them as soon as I find something stronger to fill their role. (I'm sure this is probably the main reason there's no storage locker, but still.)
I do like the whole "infinite replayability" aspect of it, and the fact that they just ramp up the enemies you face when you're at higher levels.
Is it even a spoiler alert at this point to say how disappointing the end of the main game is? Seriously, I go through all of that and I miss the vault opening?!?! Seems like a cheap ploy to have a Borderlands 2, but damn it, after beating that massive boss I was hoping for something cool. Maybe a whole area filled with those Eridian guns, or something.
I still like this better than Black Ops.
Backward ninja-dropped off of the cliff on Crisis and ballstic-knifed a kid in the tunnel for the final kill cam last night before y'all got on! How do you host saved games online somewhere??

I got Crysis 2 yesterday and it's pretty cool. The visuals are pretty awesome and the worlds feel huge without being overwhelming. The loadouts and gradual building of your character/abilities is also more intuitive than some other games I've been playing lately. Some of the controls can be a little flaky and the writing is pretty bad but Halo superpower killing humans in virus/alien infested New York is awesome. It's definitely worth a play through if anyone was thinking about buying it.

Once it hits 20 bucks I might pickup...unless the multiplayer is any good?

Reviews I read said it was decent, but the matchmaking was crap.
I haven't tried it yet. I usually beat campaigns first so I'm much more familiar with controls/weapons/etc. I'm not generally a fan of having to learn all new strategies, maps and ways of not getting ass raped, so I doubt I'll play it more than a few matches.

Saved my ninja drop! Going to try to host it this weekend on Youtube. Truthfully it's not the best ballistic knife kill I've had..I took extra long on the aim because I knew the kid was a newb and I really wanted to get that last kill with it I did go 19-1 that match though!

The more I play Crysis 2, the better it gets. The visuals are pretty awesome and the way they've spanned the gap between aliens/zombies/armies manages to ratchet up the tension on more than a few occasions. Think Master Chief vs. The Covenant vs. The Flood but without all the cartoonish bullshit. The weapons get cooler as you go along and the ability to "buy" upgrades to your suit with 4 of 12 options is enough to offer variety without being overwhelming.
The problem I'm having is two fold:
1) You can not run in guns blazing or you will die. The suit's abilities are designed more for commando type shit, whether it be tactical strikes or sneaking up on people in stealth mode. This is against my naturally tendency to spray and pray.
2) Not every scenario is designed in a way that you can methodically clear all the baddies. You can do it, but it takes a bit of planning and strategy. I spent a half hour last night trying a dozen different ways to take out two APCs and just couldn't do it. Eventually I went around them in stealth mode. Again, I had a hard time doing this because I want every corner explored, every man dead and every box checked.

Sounds like something for me to pick up, then. Even Yahtzee didn't totally fucking hate it...as soon as it hits 20 bucks I am in.

P.S. - The driving is pretty cool, but for some reason I really suck at it.
To drive an APC:
left stick - steer
right trigger - gas
right stick - aim turret
right bumper - rockets
left bumper - 50 cal (or whatever)
I guess the hand-eye of using 5 buttons at once just escapes me.

You know what's funny? That's exactly what I always said about PSN when people brought up how it was "Free". Say what you want about Microsoft, but XBox Live is pretty good, and well worth the like, 6 bucks a month I end up paying.
Now if they could only get their hardware QC under control...
