Oh man I am all about Marvel vs Capcom 3. I'm thinking about having a get together on release date for it.
I can see what you mean about getting bored with it quick though. I think it's a game that is a lot more fun to play with friends. I've never really played fighting games on line though.

They're the king of inequity. Remember when you'd go to the arcade and there were a handful of guys that would always make you waste your quarters. Now they're online and there are thousands more of them.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth
And most of them are 12 years old.

I used to be that guy, but now I don't play fighting games enough to have that level of skill anymore. Hopefully MvC3 has a decent enough skill-based matchmaking system that playing people online wouldn't be totally frustrating.

I just got back onto xbl - DGSpeed51. I never get the latest & greatest technogadget thing when it comes out so I'm playing with GTA, Forza 3, and CoD: MW2  . If any of you play these still give me a heads up.
Me and Chris were doing work last night in COD:BO until we ran into one guy who was probably the sickest I've ever seen. He went 48 and 4 in a regular team deathmatch. I looked up his stats after the game...his K/D ratio was over 3.5!! He had like almost 25,000 lifetime kills and only 7000something deaths.
No idea how he was raping people so hard...but needless to say we left that room.

For the casual player, I seriously doubt it. I play 3-4x/week and even I'm debating the cost.

Ehh I don't know if I'd drop $20 on a few extra maps. I don't like 75% of the current ones and if they're anything like the expansion maps in COD:MW2 I'll probably pass. If it was $5 or maybe $10 I'd be all over it.

Out today, $15. I'm in if anyone I play with is... otherwise I'm passing.

I picked up Dead Space 2 today, so that's probably going to occupy most of my XBOX time for the next week or so. I'm honestly not in love with Black Ops multiplayer but I have fun hopping on and playing with you guys every now and then.

All the hardcore guys appear to be playing the new maps because most of my matches last night were disproportionately non-prestige. I was able to clean up in Capture the Flag, so now I'm only a few First Bloods away from Marathon Pro.
Get in while the gettin's good!

Years ago, Mike refused to play Halo because it was too much running around, having toe-to-toe firefights, hoping the other guy would die before you. Back then, I used to love that aspect of it because even though I sucked at shooters, I could still do well. Now that I've been playing Black Ops for close to 75 hours, I feel the same way. Granted, I've only played one night of Halo Reach mutiplayer so my 1-15 is partially due to not knowing ANYTHING... but still, I didn't like the "feel" of the game. The best way I can describe it is too much Road Runner and Coyote.
I did have fun when there were 4 of us running flags in Warthogs in a wide open map, but that really had nothing to do with killing anyone so I'm not sure that's representative. Most other times, even when playing with 3 others in a party, I still felt lost. Most of that is me being a noob, but it's also a completely different style of gaming and one I'm not sure I'm in to. The funny thing about it is those who play Halo defend it vehemently and talk smack about CoD being "twitchy" or "unfair." Both of those may be true, but I prefer it.
The one place Reach is better is playing against AI. CoD doesn't have co-op campaign, which I tend to prefer, and I'm interested in trying the "wave after wave" style comp stomp Reach offers. CoD has this in Zombies, but I think that same type is very myopic in that once the zombie factor wears off, the style of play is boring. This is true even when you have 4 human players trying to defend the Pentagon from hoards of zombies and you're doing it well. I think that has a lot to do with the fact that in Zombies, you know you're never going to win and if you want to play again you get to do the exact same thing and it's just a question of how long before you die. My hope is Reach's comp stomp styles are actually completable, much like the scripted defense games people designed for the old Command & Conquer games.

Halo has been out so long that there are some kids that are seriously good at that game too. It's definitely less multi-dimensional than the COD games in my opinion.
I'm waiting for another mainstream shooter to come out that's fast...like UT2k4 fast. The problem is that you can't really play fast FPS games on a console...you need a keyboard and mouse.
Here's a zip file of my buddy's clan back in the day. At the time I believe they were ranked #2 or #3 in the world and would compete for serious money in tournaments. Definitely worth the download if you've got a few minutes to kill. http://levi.teamspeak.org/downloads/UT20..._xvid).zip
Some pretty epic kills and some seriously good gamers. "Venael" on that video is a guy I knew pretty well from my Everquest days, I actually bought one of his accounts and flipped it a few years later. We still keep in touch through Facebook...he's out in Newcastle England.
