Having only ever looked at practice tests, I think you should study a book of logic/discrete math. There are a lot of tricky ass questions that boil down to solving a truth table. My g/f has taken them (and got into harvard law with a 94 percentile or something) and basically said she had to take a shitton of practice tests every week for like 6 months..for whatever that is worth to you.

Thank you for your advice! That is amazing that she got in to Harvard, which is the best of the best. Very impressive. I've heard alot of people say they've studied for 6 months up to the test. Do you think there is any way I could email her just to ask her about her experience going through law school? I am very interested in going to law school, but don't know if I want to commit another 3 years to school. So, that's what I am trying to figure out. Thanks again for your help! It is greatly appreciated!

Thanks for your advice too! I've had other people tell me to take the Kaplan course as well. I think I may try to enroll in it. I have to dig up some more info. on it. Let me know if they have any other advice! Thanks! Big Grin

Just looked up the Kaplan Course online and it looks like a very comprehensive program. Down side...it is over $1000 to enroll. I guess I know what I am asking for for Christmas from the Grandparents haha

Ask around to people you know who have corporate jobs. A lot of companies have discount codes you can use to get a decent sized discount.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

Hey, this is Jess. Saw the post and thought I'd chime in. Took the LSAT in 2001. I'd recommend a Kaplan course, which I didn't take and later regretted. As some have already mentioned, practice tests are the key.

The best piece of advice I can give is to not go into a huge amount of debt for law school. Yes, try to get into a good school, but honestly, as long as you do well (i.e. Law review, moot court, etc), you'll find a nice 6-figure job at BigLaw firm like all the others, regardless of what school you attend. I tell the undergrad interns in my office to forego the private law schools -not worth it unless it's Harvard. Here's the other thing- if you rack up $90K in law school debt, then you're kinda limiting yourself as far as job options when you get out -- you won't be able to afford to do anything BUT work 80 hours a week at a BigLaw firm. From what I've heard from my lawyer friends, EVERY ONE OF THEM HATES (or hated) working at a major law firm. So, first consider what kind of lawyer you want to be when looking at schools. If you want the firm job in NYC, go for the flashy schools. If not, save your money.

I'm currently a prosecutor in Montgomery County, VA, (my entire career thus far has been in criminal law) so if you have any other questions, hit me up!

Does that mean I can speed with impunity in Montgomery County or does that mean you would bring down the hammer on me?

Oh yeah - just to clarify - my g/f didnt finish law school. She did harvard until the scholarship money ran out, and then has decided to work for a couple years to make sure that's what she really, really wants to do. Kind of in the same vein as Jess posted, i have heard her talk a lot about making sure before you spend the money on school. She plans on going back, but maybe not to harvard because she wants to do public law, and maybe she doesnt need the degree to be from there.
