Halo Reach Multiplayer Beta Party (May 3rd)

Gonna have another get-together for the Halo Reach MP Beta release on the 3rd. Like last time I'll try to secure a second TV so we can play at least 4 at a time (maybe up to 8?).

Location: 409 Hillwood Ave, Falls Church
Time: 6 pm - 10 pm (or later)
Food: Patacones (fried green plaintains), chicken-bacon kabobs, beer

In the next 2 weeks I'll work out the extra TV and extra Xbox details. Will probably need someone to bring their Xbox and copy of ODST since that's what has the MP beta invite on it. It was a pretty good time last time (<!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="http://mmsports.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=8799">viewtopic.php?f=5&t=8799</a><!-- l -->) but with all of the new features of Reach it should be even more fun.

Hopefully we can record some hilarious assasinations...

Yeah I don't really understand the logic of releasing it on a Monday, except maybe that all of the Bungie employees will be in the office to respond to any f-ups.

Oh well, we can always party up over live. I've got two of my coworkers who said they're coming so far, and my roommate plays so that makes 4. I need to send out some more emails for some of my other buddies that play.

Sweet so now we have 2 coworkers, roommate, Chan, and DJ. I'll make sure to secure enough meats. Maybe I'll make the chocolate/toffee cookie hotness as well.

Secured TV number 2, now I just need someone to bring Xbox number 2. The only thing I wonder about is how long it will take to download the beta since it is 1.2GB. I get off work early tomorrow so I should be able to get it no problem but I don't know about Xbox #2.

EDIT: Picked up Xbox numero dos. Will start downloads when I get home around 1 or so. Supposedly the download goes live sometime late morning PST which is good in a way because a lot of people will be at school or work. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Xbox Live servers get overwhelmed with people downloading the beta.

Played it a little bit already. It's pretty mfn sweet. It's been a little bit weird getting used to the new control scheme. It's a little hard timing melees properly because I keep going for B. Got assassinated once already :evil:

I've been using mostly the sprint armor ability. Makes the new slower native walk speed a little more bearable. New weapon that is awesome is the plasma launcher. Launching plasma grenades that track is fucking badass. So much so that they might have to tone it down for the final release.

Good times! I love doing this every once in awhile, hopefully I'll have an excuse to do it again in the not too distant future. If anyone wants to drop by and play before they pull the plug on beta lemme know.
