Heads-up about two different events, both on July 12th.
DC Benz Club AutoX
in Winchester, VA. Cost is $30 and you may run two events per year with these guys before joining either CDC or their club. I did an auto-x with them earlier in the summer and had a good time. Smaller course and group of people but we kept things moving. Minimum of six runs guaranteed.
WDCR-SCCA AutoX
at FedEx Field in MD. Cost is usually $35 for SCCA members, $45 for non-members. It's always a good time, but depending on when you run, it can be a very long day at FedEx. I'm contemplating going to this one because the course will definitely be longer, and i can run in STS and go first in the day. Link for this event (to register and stuff) is here.
Questions, opinions, etc? Would be great to see some other MM folks out there!

More information on the Winchester, Va event. Where do they run it? Any links to past events?
I'll be at that DC jumpoff, of course.

Like I said, Winchester is pretty fun. It's held at Millbrook High School, which is right off of Route 7. Easy drive to and from. The lot is fairly small - definitely smaller than Verona if you've been there - but it's a good time anyway. Always lots of fun to see the Benz guys hooning around in S-classes through cones.
From my first time with them...
Jake Wrote:Just got home from this, and had a pretty good day. The course wasn't too challenging. It was kinda fast in parts, which I'm sure the big V8 Benzes appreciated. My biggest deficit was my tires. The mighty Riken Raptors have fallen, ladies and gents. Time to order new rubber.
Aside from sliding due to a complete lack of grip, I was pretty smooth and consistent. Got three runs in the morning for practice, then four runs this afternoon for times.
It was awesome watching the club members bomb around in W140 sedans and W124s. The W140s are huge - just ten inches shorter than a Town Car. The V8s sounded glorious, as did the 16V motors in a few W124 cars.
Here are some pictures that were taken from that event. I really appreciate more seat time, and Benz Club events give you that, especially compared to WDCR.

Registration for the Washington DC event opens on the 5th. I think I'll be registering for that one, mainly so I can see how the Azenis do on a longer, more challenging course. I know some of us were on the fence about which event to attend, so my choice is WDCR if that influences anyone else.

Is it $45 for WDCR even if you are a SCCA member? All I see on the signup form is $45

Nope, it's $35 if you are a member. I registered and that's what I was charged.

Thanks to Will, I ran a GoPro camera on my windshield header for my final run - which was also my fastest.
Best times of the day were right about 50 seconds. Peter was haulin' ass and getting solid 55s, which I thought was impressive. My tires are doing well, it's driver skill and seat time that needs work now. So, that's what I'm doing. Anyway, enjoy the video:

Definitely had a great time as usual, good to see the usual crew out there. I ran a 58.4 but felt like I had a 57 in me. Oh well--

I'm just glad I didn't finish dead last. Officially not a n00b anymore.

+1. At first I was like wat........then I lol'd. And that course gave me a boner after doing nothing but Verona events. I'm definitely fixing that asap.
