"flagging" threads?
#1
wouldn't it be cool if we could "flag" our favorite threads? I'm not sure if its possible, but maybe someone knows. I'm always searching for past topics on "how to's" that get lost deep in the pages. I'd also like to bookmark the topics I'm interested in following, since I tend to just skim through things these days.

You could also set it up so when searching, you could choose to only view your bookmarked topics. Oh, and these bookmarks would obviously be specific to each user.

good idea, maybe an add-in on the user's profile to be able to refer to "flagged" threads (save URLs)?

There's a pretty cool feature called a bookmark in your browser. ;-)

If you want it on every computer you use, try delicious. http://delicious.com

Some forum software supports tagging threads but if it doesn't delicious is a pretty good alternative.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

any version of phpBB newer than the 7 year old version has features like subscribing to threads, also with email updates etc.

forum really needs an upgrade.
