Machinist straight edge
#1
I was wondering if any of you had a machinist straight edge tool, that I might be able to borrow, maybe for a small fee or a good case of beer. I am about to do a head gasket, and I need a straight edge that i can use with my feeler gauges to check for flatness, and I don't want to spend 70 bux on one, mainly because I will use it one time in my life.

Call a machine shop and ask them to make you one.

It cost me, I think, 15 dollars when I did it last? They just take a piece of bar stock and put a flat edge on it. Cheaper if you bring them bar stock. Smile
