Just checking in. I found the site/club through member rezarxt over on svtperformance.com. I don't go to JMU, I'm a townie. I do have an '03 Cobra though if that's any consolation.

Welcome! We need more Cobra in the club  I'll come right out and say I'm a big fan of those cars.

Which one are you? Off the top of my head, H'burg has a dark silver/charcoal one, a dark red (laser?) convertible and a light silver convertible.

I would be the guy in the dark silver/charcoal one. Ford calls the color Dark Shadow Grey. The silver 'vert is actually for sale again at City Motors down on 11 south. Here's a pic of mine:

Cool, I've seen you around town, on S. Main a few times, very clean. What exhaust do you have on that? Any other mods? We have a few locals that come to our events, and we're not just student-based...Kyle (City Motors) usually brings a nice car to our spring show. Our semester is pretty much over, too cold to do anything now but take a look around and come out in the spring 8)

Mods...it's got a few 8) . The car is just a basic pulley/tune/exhaust Terminator. The exhaust consists of a Magnaflow catted x-pipe with a Borla Stinger catback system. It's loud but I don't drive it often so it's fun to make a little noise every now and then.

Kyle sold the vert and then the guy traded it back in not long ago. It's sitting out front now, I think I may go take it for a spin for shits and giggles. Nice car buddy, hope to see you around. I work right off south main too. If you need Ford parts as cost don't hesitate to contact me.

Hopefully we'll see you at some things in the spring semester - like Goodspeed said, we're basically done for fall at this point.

It's DSG, and thanks for the warm reception guys. Looking forward to making it to some events once it warms back up!

I had a '88 5.0 5-spd GT back in high school but was rear ended after only owning it for nine months so I hadn't really done anything to it other than a pair of Flowmasters. It was a shame too because the car was a one owner, all original, bone stock car that had never been in any type of collision. It was mint.

After that I went through a 4x4 faze. I had a big '88 F250, and then a really clean '98 Jeep GC Limited. The Jeep was really sweet, it had power everything, nice stereo, V8 power and a smooth ride. I still miss that one. Then for a couple years I didn't have anything fun, just my daily beater. So after saving all that time I wanted to buy a low mileage (under 25K miles) 5.0 LX coupe. The same kind of car the highway patrol used in the '80s and '90s. That search lasted 18 months before I gave up in frustration, after finally realizing it's hard to find a 10 year old 5.0 Mustang that hasn't been beat to death, let alone one with the mileage I was looking for.

So then I started looking into the '03-'04 Cobra's. I found my car down in the Raleigh-Durham area in the summer of '07. I went down and looked at it one weekend, gave the seller a deposit to hold it and came back the next week to pick it up on the 4th of July.

Sorry for the book, but you asked Big Grin

Like Fords much?
18 months is an impressively long period of time to be searching for a particular car. You must have some killer patience...

In 18 months I would probably have gone through 5 cars...
