So are you still going to summit Pete? Just wondering cause I gotta figure out a way up there, turns out im not getting full oil pressure. The one thing the shop did was pack the oil pump and it turns out thats whats failing. grrrr.... I dont have my timing tools and necessary tools down here to pull the front case. *sigh*

We have spark!!!

A new (to me) EDIS module arrived in the mail today. I made a cool little testing system out of a specialized wav file and by splicing into a headphone cord. I can plug the system into the headphone jack of my laptop and play the wav file. It sends the proper voltage signal simulating the engine turning at 1150RPM. Anyhow, plugged the new system in and I had sparks everywhere! (I had the plug wires disconnected from the head and just laying on the engine, so they were arcing everywhere they could find a ground!).

I primed the fuel pump (accidentally) and got a little "pumph!" from the engine too!

This is good :-).

Next is making sure the VR sensor is working right. With this system I get about 130mv AC, so with the VR sensor hooked up and the engine cranking, I should see about half that theoretically. Oh, and more sparks :-)

It's Alive!!!!!

It starts! It doesn't idle, it doesn't accelerate, but by golly it starts! What a glorious sound. It doesn't sound much rougher right now than it did with the OEM stuff in it, so I can't wait to get it tuned!

Looks like a lot of fun I am jealous. I have been wanting to always rewire a car, it makes it SOOO much cleaner and you get rid of a shit ton of crap. And think an 80s car you pulled 17lbs of stuff, imagine a 90s or 00s cars with all the million relays, computers, wiring.

I am NOT jealous of soldering ECUs, I suck at that shit, you did such a clean job. Congradulations

Thanks man! It's really amazing how many wires I eliminated. The car had an OBC that displayed open doors, faulty lights, etc, so each component in the car had about 3x the wires it needed to actually function. I've been soldering since I was in high school so it's not too big of a deal now. I've messed up plenty of connections in my day though :-).

It's finished! 252hp/254 Torque.

Took it to Va Beach on Saturday and we tuned it. My goal was to get in the 250whp range so I can be classed properly in GTS (GTS3) .

I had the car dyno'd a while ago with the OEM ECU and I got around 210 at the wheels at 13psi. I haven't changed anything except for the ECU, and we produced this:



I thought for sure I would have to go to around 16psi but we exceeded my goal and all of the specs (A/F, EGT, etc) are really good and safe.


The car runs so nice. I can start it without giving it gas, anywhere I hit the throttle the responce is right there, and it just drives really well. It drives like a car should drive.
