for the homies that will be trying to go:

i may not be able to make it. as an officer, it sucks, but i may not have the energy after watching our shenanigans at slummit, plus my tires are wearing hella fast and i need them to last.

that being said, the plan was to have an officer set up a meeting point and we roll to staunton as a group from there. seeing as how that is now in question, here are the directions to get there (also for people who may want to go alone for whatever reason):

-hit up main street, and head south. main is also known as rt. 11.
-keep going down 11 until you hit the town of verona. you will go past a wendys(?) and a goodyear tire on the right i believe, and shortly afterwards you will see the Augusta County Government Center on the left. if you hit the intersection for 275 East/West you have gone an intersection or two too far.

alternate directions:
-hit up 81 south
-go until exit 227 into verona
-once off the exit take a left onto rt. 11 south
-follow the second set of directions from above.

Hey i know im new here and havnt really met you guys yet, but i was wondering if I could maybe come w/one of you guys that lives near campus? I know its kinda lot to ask, but ive never been to any kinda auto event, and I would really like to start gettin into these things. Anyways, ill understand if its a no, just askin. Thanks.

oh you can def. come along with someone. Most of us will be at summit or we would come pick you up. If Jack reads this, we'll find out if hes going. I'm sure Scotty wouldn't mind if he decides to go. Just stay tuned...

Summit Point Raceway. It is right inside the WV border. It is a decent road course, and is hypothetically the MM home track.

here's a link to the HPDE-ing that most of us will be participating in. Some people will also be working and some will also spectate.

It's usually a 2-day event that almost all of us have worked at and a lot have participated in. They have race events also incorporated into the weekend with the HPDE groups.

thats it, with the potential for all these n00bs coming to the track and possibly autox, we have to treat'em right. bring the grill, your finest meats and cheeses, lots of beer and plenty of seats in the huge MM tent.

hard? ha, not really unless you don't like waking up early.

its basically a day of checking out incredible race cars and high performance street cars in the paddock, then watching them from the best seats in the house....a workers' station! you will be shown how to use flags and the radio in most cases. it usually lasts all day too, but you will be given a free lunch and credits. with NASA (the group we flag for) you are allowed a free track day with an instructor after working 2 full weekends. its an awesome deal.

also, on the down time you can often walk around the paddock and some of the friendlier drivers will give you a few rides around the track if you ask them nicely.

we'll explain all of this at our meeting so i won't go into much more than this for now

i'll be there early sat! chris, if you could post up those directions that would be killer. Blair, if you want, i'd like to caravan up to slummit with you depending on when you want to leave. if anyone wants a lift i can fit 3 more peeps too. i'll be heading back around 7-8 sat. night i guess.

yeah Blair, there are places to park. Its just beyond the paddock but close enough

I dunno if this is a spectator event or not (Summit), so when you get to the gate just sign up as Crew, or a worker that way they don't give you any hassle.

do you know if there is a charge to get into this... i dont htink the driving schools are spectator events but i dont know???? do you guys who are trackin have crew lists. anyone got room on theirs
