I'm actually interested. RJ do you plan on taking the train, as that seems like the cheapest way to get there.

I'd be staying at a buddies place, so no sharing hotels with the snore king.

Actually taking the train isn't much cheaper and takes MUCH longer to get there. I just checked Amtrak's website and it will cost a minimum of $162 to leave that Friday and come back on the Monday. It will take 17.5 hours to get to Indy on the way out, and 21 hours on the way back because it connects through Chicago.

By plane the lowest price I can find is about $190 but it only takes 4 hours to get there. The downside is that it is departing from BWI. From IAD or DCA it is $295-ish.

Either way the plane is a much better deal unless you want to sit on a train for a day.

My only motivation for taking the train is because I've never done it before, and the train station is within walking distance of my house.

there are *much* shorter train distances to "try" it on. the only trains i'll take are to NYC and to BWI. both places are not worth the hassle of driving.

Has anyone bought tickets yet?

I'm ready and set to go, just seeing who else is going.
