Yeah would probably be a good idea.
is that your professional opinion?

I've never driven a set of ultimates (that I know of), but I was under the impression that they filled a similar niche to the HP+?
that was my assumption as well. i haven't driven hp+, but ultimates are an aggressive street pad that is great for autox use and not exactly stellar for track use. i was able to glaze mine halfway in to my first session of a weekend.

yeah thats why I got them for street/autox but not track. I've felt a lot safer daily driving with much stronger brakes.

I wouldn't recommend it. I glazed some HP+ at my first track weekend ever. Start out with something like the Carbotech P+.

carbotech p+ is a good pad to use for your first event. just be sure to bed them in beforehand and not on track like evan did for me last november

2004 Honda S2000
2007 BMW X3
so yeah, I don't know exactly how they compare, but I've had no problems with the HP+ at the track. Never had them glaze or fade, although they aren't designed to hold up to R tires or race duty.
psssshh
Ultimates are great for the track, especially for a beginner. Stopped my 3100 lb pig + me + fat old man instructor my first 2 weekends.
I still use ultimates on the miata, and outbrake RJs ass like no tomorrow!

It's easy when you're going slower to start with! (my car can outbrake anyone!)

chris, you may get away with the ultimates on track. my first event they help up, but my second one they were gone in half a session. you car is a little heavier than mine, but the speeds you'll be braking from will be slower too.

FWIW... Carbotech 1108 (XP8) compound
2 Day Summit Point
2 Day Beaverun
1 Day Beaverun
1 Autox (20+ runs)
2 Day VIR-North
2 Day Mid-Ohio
All street miles in between
'00 ITR, No ducting, dust sheilds removed. Tires = A032's and Hankooks.
They are at the rivets, and time to replace. Very streetable, decent cold bite, no noise on street (my P+ rear pads make noise though).

always talking shit mike... you forgot about my secret NOS yO! but seriously, I'm actually worried about having an extra person in my car on track (for the weight that is)...
I'll talk to matt at carbotech and see what he recommends for pads.
