Agreed, if I was going to get it I would lowball at $500. I just can't justify spending money on things like that until I get furniture and household stuff I NEED first :lol:

So to celebrate a promotion and the fact that I'm actually receiving a refund this year from my taxes, I saw this come up on Craigslist and completely splurged. The guy still had the Street Fighter 2 game and I almost pulled the trigger on that one, but when I saw the MK2 game come up I had to go for it. Both are great games but MK2 was the one game that I wasted the most quarters and the most time on as a kid at the arcade. I have such great memories of pwning older kids at the arcade and almost getting my ass beat by this one teenager when I was like 12 for beating $5 worth of his quarters ha ha

Some crappy cell phone pics. Everything works on it, brand new monitor, joysticks just serviced, even all the lights still work. It lacks a back, but the guy left me with a big piece of plywood so I could make my own (which I'll probably just leave off so it's easier to access). He left me with two new locks to install and a couple extra light bulbs for the coin slots.

Just blackness on the side. Dunno if it was a dedicated cabinet or not or if it was refinished at some point. All of the graphic insets are still there on the front and top and the plastic is peeling off a little bit below the joystick panel.

if the sides have been repainted, it's more than likely that it's not the original cab. there is good money to be made buying shit cabs and putting good games in them.

i'd put the back on it if i were you... they collect dust VERY fast... even when sealed.

Good call, I didn't even think about the dust factor! I did a quick search on Ebay to see if I could find the original side vinyls but didn't have any luck. Any clue where I might find them?

There's also a gap between the monitor cover and the joystick board, so I might buy a piece of black weatherstripping and install it from the underside just to seal it up.

finding vinyls is nearly impossible as most places won't reprint copyrighted stuff AND someone would have had to go through the effort of recreating them too.

Hrm, there are a few Ebay places that will sell me just the "dragon" MK logo in a vinyl form. It might look cool if I got two of those, one for each size and about a foot in diameter. It wouldn't look as cool as the original Raiden logo on the side, but it would be better than black
