Were you riding on the parkway last weekend? I saw what looked like a supermoto bike, a guy with red black and white jacket, with a purple tinged headlight. It was just north of the parkway's intersection with Burke Lake Road. It was Sunday. The rider was heading towards Springfield, I was heading towards 66.

Well, all that trouble and here's the court transcript:

Judge: Do you need a translator?
Woman: *blank stare*
Judge: Please get a Spanish translator.

*translator showed up*

Judge: Is the wittness here?
Me: Yes, sir.
Judge: Great. The Commonwealth's wittness is present, Officer Frazier? The Defendent is present. Ma'am, how do you plead?
*Officer Frazier approached the stand.
Translator: Translates everything.
Woman: I don't have a wittness.
Judge: This is a continuance from the first trial. The Commonwealth called it's wittness, you had the same opportunity. How do you plead?
Translator: Translates more stuff.
Woman: Guilty.

And we all went home. What a waste of time.

It seemed clear to me that the woman was working on the sympathy of people who took pity of her language barrier. The Judge didn't give a shit. The woman seemed to think that she deserved to have the world spelled out to her in her native tounge, and that she was not accountable for her behavior before explanation.

Fuck that.

Where I come from, you have certain responsibilities and not having your hand held isn't an excuse for failure. Oh, and where I come from you get the rest of the day off!
