Been playing this a bit over a week now... I'm sure I'll get bored eventually, but I always loved the idea of being a trucker.
Anyway, unlike other text-based online games, this one doesn't require you to spend every waking minute at the keyboard to do well. In fact, I put in at most 10 minutes a day and I'm able to be 100% efficient (more time would not result in better play).

If you start playing, join my company.
Note: Also unlike other text-based games, I don't get a referral or extra points for you to join... By joining my company we just get to work together... Nothing more, nothing less.

Is it like Gang and/or Dope wars, just a different subject?
Those games are pretty entertaining for awhile but eventually die a horrible, horrible death.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth
It isn't really like them at all. No recruiting, no people sharing accounts to play 24 hours a day. There is a limit to the amount of play you can do per day, and it takes like 5 minutes twice a day.

What are the tricks to getting ahead? Getting high demand cargo to the right city?

ya, pretty much. shorter trips, buying a truck that can go 75mph asap, and high demand cargo. after a week you should have a truck that will last you a while so you start upgrading the parts on it to save gas and shit. don;'t go more than 5 mph over the speed limit AND don't ever travel when your fatigue is at 10.

What is the benefit to being in a company? Mike, our company only has two terminals. That is the only place I can take advantage of the cost savings (gas and repairs), correct? Should I be planning my routes around the terminals more? At this point it is costing me more money to be in the company. Am I doing something wrong or just missing the point?
there are better companies out there, but with them you're just a number.

What are you with this one? I have gotten nothing from being in this company aside from having to pay money TO THEM.
I just signed up under the damnit SN like on these boards. I "think" I joined your company to mike, at least i followed that link and clicked on what I thought I had to.
I bought a CB radio, is there anything else I should pick up early on? I just started a route to St. Louis just to get a feel for how things go.

So if my driver is sleepy, do I just have to wait till tomorrow (in real life) and he'll be back to normal?

you can go to 10 without problems. every hour of real life time that number goes down by one. so you dont really have to wait over night. It's always reducing by the hour.
yeah i'm thinking of leaving this company. in order to get better, our bankroll needs to increase. it has not done so in like 2 weeks now.
shall we go become numbers?
also, i've started playing <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://shogunwars.com/register.php?commander=iammikeDOTorg">http://shogunwars.com/register.php?comm ... mikeDOTorg</a><!-- m -->

Let me know where you go. It seems there is no harm to a company to bring on a lower member its all money for them right.
i'm going to sell off my stock before making the jump so it'll take me two more days.
