There's a lot of things that 'interest' me that I'll enjoy watching on TV/Movies/etc that dont go any further at the moment - who knows, maybe its something I'll get into later, like a lot of other things. Its entertaining and I'll keep watching it and I dont have to be busting my ass doing it on my own. I also like watching the show about everest thats on now - and having never climbed a mountain I couldnt walk up and I dont know shit about it but it entertains me - and they pay a lot of $$ for support/vehicles/guides too.

I do things differently. I don't understand why my lack of interest in people doing it in a different way than I would approach it, warrants such a negative reaction. It's not like my first post was "fuck those guys with their support vehicles and King Size Canopy Trail beds!" I just said I wasn't interested because they used support vehicles.

I think that's debateable. We have shows like Survivorman and Les Stroud wasn't famous when the show was conceived. Why did the network care about some random schmoe living in the woods for a week? You have shows like Man vs. Wild where there is a crew who another no-name on camera. I'm certain popularity had influence but I can't say with any certainty that's why the show exists... and neither can you.

To Evan, I'm not sure why fame really matters anyway. I mean, so what if the show didn't exist without his fame? Does that make it any less entertaining? Perhaps a bit contrived in the minds of the more "hardcore" but I don't think it's less entertaining.
