I'll write something later, but if you want the sweet/short version.
- Should have taken the MSF
- lowsided back from rolling thunder, broke collarbone, seperated sternum, cracked 2 ribs
- the day i didnt wear my jacket (im an idiot)
- out of work for about a month 1/2 - so sold the bike for $3500, paid the rest of the loan working the rest of summer.
sooo in summmary, take the MSF, wear gear, and ride with people who are responsible riders.
I take 100% responsibility for my actions, and if i do wish to pursue the 2 wheel adventure again I will be taking the correct steps, it sucks to learn the hard way (and quite expensive also!)...
I think that about sums it up, hate to say it but RJ was right - hah!

I was gonna post in Mike's topic about hanging up the riding gear and giving up, I'm really lucky that my family was able to help me out financially (not working, cant wait tables with a busted collarbone). And having a great girlfriend who could take care of me, I dont know what id do without her as its pretty hard to change yourself with the stupid brace I had on, haha.
But I think when Spring rolls around and if i can get money saved, I am strongly considering picking up another bike. I hate to bring Rob's accident up, but it seems he considers he was at no fault. But I can clearly remember fixating and not looking thru the turn, aka. loooowside.
So if anyone is taking the MSF anytime soon, let me know

Well, sorry it happened.  You get a few points for realizing (though too late) that you could have maybe done something to prevent it and or minimize the damages!
A question. Why does everyone always break their damn collarbone? Does your helmet hit it? Or is it just the pressure on your shoulder/arm when you fall on your side?

I'm thinking the collarbone is just a weak bone - when I did finally go off the bike i was probably doing close to ~15-20mph, maybe less. When i figured that i blew the turn, i stood the bike up and tried to ride off the turn so that scrubbed some speed down.
But it sure is a pain to break a collarbone, but the 2 month supply of vicodin was nice.
So no insurance?

Bike. You said you paid the rest of the loan working over the summer. I was just wondering why you had to work to pay it off if you had insurance.

I'm going to venture a guess that he had minimal coverage on the bike. I don't carry very good bike insurance, myself... but that's probably for different reasons.
To answer Paul's question, I believe his health insurance did/would have covered his medical costs. Health insurance doesn't offer non-income compensation for patients during recovery, though. He wasn't able to work while he was healing, hence, he had losses.
When it comes to Ryan Jenkins, the story ends with me putting him in the wall.
