Great group. Tempted to pull the trigger and make it two weekends in a row up at Summit.
hmm maybe I'll do this event instead of the Car Guys at Shenandoah in Sept.
Couple question I have:
How much track time will you get with this group? Where did you take your tech inspection form- it says a service shop must approve it.
I'm also wondering if I should stay in the intermediate group since I haven't been on track with passing in any location... I've done 20 days on track, and advanced says 16+. I'm assumning advanced students don't have instructors and intermediate does?
Here is the info on the groups from their website:
Blue (Intermediate)
"Intermediate" drivers are those who have participated in at least 7 track days and have been "signed off" by an instructor on multiple tracks. All Intermediate drivers will have instructors for at least the first session of the day, but may be signed off and solo the remainder of the day at their instructors recommendation. Passing other cars in Intermediate is only allowed on straights after the driver of the lead car signals.
Black (Advanced)
"Advanced" are those who have participated at 15+ track days and have been "signed off" by an instructor for multiple tracks. Passing other cars in Advanced is allowed anywhere on the track, but only after the driver of the lead car signals acknowledging the pass.

Track time is 25 minutes for the first 3 sessions and 30 minutes for the last session with approximately an hour between each outing... sometimes more if you have classroom. Lunch is provided and you even get a T-Shirt. While I was there I saw that a student in the black group requested an instructor (which turned out to be mine) but only used them for one session. There are so few cars in each group that the track is amazingly open for whatever pace you wish to run. I think you would be fine in the upper level groups as from what I've seen everybody was very respectful since its not loaded with racers everywhere... although there were a handful of GT3 cup cars and other stupid fast cars.
For the inspection I just had a fellow car guy friend sign off on mine.. they just briefly looked at it and gave me a sticker (in other words its very relaxed.. they just want you to have the car prepared). They might be a little more involved when it comes to the higher groups. I'd recommed this event as for the price, its a very enjoyable experience.
the group runs a lot like nasa's does, except you get a shit ton more track time. boobies, i say go for it.
