my route down to VIR depends on how the traffic looks on 95south on fridays. if its bad (which it usually is, starting at about noon)... then i just jump on the PW parkway and run it over to 29. if it isnt bad just about every road off 95 past rt 17 hooks up with 29 including rt 17. i generally dont take 95 south though.... cause it usually is backed up from my exit to rt 17.... even if it takes longer i'd rather stay moving.

that's my philosophy too when dealing with traffic...just feels soo much better
MichaelJComputer Wrote:Kaan Wrote:1230? sheesh.... you better fly.... c-ville traffic right there on 29 blows! it will take you at least 30 min to get past that
at 1 in the afternoon?
Having now experienced the joy of Charlottesville traffic on a regular basis... Yes, it sucks at all hours of the day, all days of the week. However, it's still not as bad as NoVa!
I've only ever had one problem with cops on 29 and that was right outside of Lynchburg as I was traveling through a construction zone and my speedometer didn't work. The guy let me off with a warning. I don't use cruise control, I just choose not to exceed 10MPH over the posted limit.
i should probably follow the speed limits more...i've gotten too many warnings and tickets...
That's why I find it funny when people warn you about cops in a certain area, uh if you follow the speed limit within a reasonable amount you have nothing to worry about. Well unless you're RJ who tends to let stuff like inspection and registration expire on his car. I still can't believe you haven't been nailed for that one man, it expired 02/04, good lawd.

And I almsot always drive 75-80 on the highway on the way to the track.
No tickets in 3.5 years.... *knocks w00d*

lucky bastard. I've driven that fast, sometimes faster.
84/65...ticket (wreckless)
80/65...ticket (speeding - travis saw me in court for that one)
65/40...warning
75/35...warning
i've slowed down considerably since the last
I keep it under 80 on the highway for the most part, and if I'm going down 29 then under 75.

Simply put, unless I'm in a pack of cars all going >10 MPH over the limit I keep it at 10MPH over the limit.
Thats becuase your speedo is broken and you dont know how fast you're going anyways

If anyone needs to load anything into the BGWT it leaves NoVA tonight between 7 - 8, call my cell phone to let me know what you got. I'm already carrying .RJ's seats and a couple bags for Evan, so just let me know.

I should be leaving Tysons/Vienna @ 10am.

Dude, if I got a warning on that one, I'd be lucky if I broke the speed limit by 5 mph for a month. Karma man, be careful...

lol, it was actually on skyline drive
the guy was cool about it though, he was like, "i know i go about 70-80 on these roads sometime, but i'm used to it. we just don't want you going excessively fast mainly for deer"...then we started to talk about camping, lol, cool cop 8)
he didn't clock me at 75, but he had a strong intuition that i did. He clocked me going 42, but a citizen complained that i was going around 70 or something. I passed him (legally with the exception of the speeding) and he flagged down the cops and told them. they chased me down about 3 miles later....bastard.
Yeah damn them for chasing someone down going 40MPh over the posted speed limit.
