white_2kgt Wrote:Hu? So you are a professional photographer now? Like I said above, if it works for you, great. However, I'd expect a true professional to have their own site. I just enabled the PhotoWorks plugin in my gallery2, added a few pictures to the shopping cart, then checked out with photoworks, just to test quality, easy, painless and all I paid for was the website I already have and the prints I decided I wanted to print.
If by professional you mean it's my day job, no.
If by professional you mean I get paid to take pictures, yes.
"True professionals" usually have a rebranded site (i.e. http://www.moonriverphotography.com [note the powered by smugmug]) for purchases and/or pay someone else to main a portfolio site.

That's two hours worth of work. How much do you pay for hosting?
If anyone wants to rip this out to another topic, please feel free.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

$0. In fact so far this year I'm up $1,500.
Well that's obviously not the case with everyone who wants to host/sell photos... and that's my point.

What I think is a crime are people who pay $25 for Flickr's retarded Pro account when there's no real configuration or rebranding.

Apoc Wrote:What I think is a crime are people who pay $25 for Flickr's retarded Pro account when there's no real configuration or rebranding. yeah but there is the 200 picture limit on free accounts
I was going to ask you if you had to pick between smugmug and flickr which you would choose.
There is? Shows you how much I use Flickr. I just use it to showcase new photos to the general public I guess rotating in the most recent 200 isn't as bad.
I'm partial to Smugmug myself and think if you've made the commitment to pay then the extra $ for it is worth it over Flickr's pro. Flickr is more social networking and ease of use than anything and you'd be hard pressed to find anyone "in the biz" using it as their sole outlet. I'm not sure if you can set custom prices with Flickr but I really like that about Smugmug.
What really annoys me about the photo sharing sites (Shutterfly and Photoworks) is you have to share photos for people to see them. My sister has shared countless pics with me and I've never seen them because I didn't get the email. Not only that but I'm forced to create an account to view photos? Screw that... that's why it's free. I can't tell you how many times people have tried to share photos with me and I just delete it because I have to register.
Looks like your pics made it around the int3rweb to the Cup forums.

I had all my stuff on winkflash (they still let people download the full res version) until I realized that people have to register to view. wtf is that.

Nice pics, looks like a great time. I like that point by pic as well, also it looks like a silver Noble is behind you in the pic below that, looks pretty cool! Did you get the full effects of the on-track crack pipe Shea? Its good that you got the Subie out to stretch its legs a little, but all that excercise means it has probably worked up quite an appetite....
I am *this* close to ordering pics.... since Evan didn't hook me up at ALL. But can't quite swallow the $55. Maybe if it were like $40. Oh well, half of mine are from the mild rain session and slow speeds, so whatever.
