Gonna pick up an SVX on sunday...

A 1994 Subaru SVX, to be exact.

Don't know the color, don't know the trim level, don't know the options, don't know the drive train.

I do know it's free.

That's right. Free fifty free.

free

Free as in Zero, Zilch, Nada, nuthing, come pick it up and you can have it free.

And it runs.

Hell, the wheels and tires are worth free.

*claps and dances*

For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about:

Or if you're from Japan, a Subaru Alcyone.

Free.

Bitches.

SVX's are cool just for being so freaking weird. would make a pretty hot little winter beater come to think of it. there's a manual conversion out there too, since they're all auto. nice find though man! ebay is calling youuuu

That is not the exact car. It's just a picture of an SVX.

How I got it for free will, regrettably, have to remain a mystery until I take delivery, at which point I will be happy to share the art of getting free shit.

As far as a winter beater, yeah, it would make the ultimate one. They're really cool. 220hp 3.3 litre boxer six, makes 300 horsepower with bolt-on N/A mods. (I/H/E, chip)

I don't know if it's front or all wheel drive. If it's front, it's going directly on the auction block. If it's all, well that's a tough damn decision, now isn't it. A 5 speed swap is absolutely straightforward, the only complication being whether to use a cable or hydraulic clutch. (cable is easier) The auto tranny is most likely on it's last legs, as it was poorly designed for such an immense car. (over 2 tons)

I'll probably sell it, pull myself out of debt, and continue with the 240 turbo.

But for a few hours, I will own one of the most bizarre cars ever made.

good find! I always liked those things, heavy, but stylish, and yeah, that motor's pretty cool. Didn't know they were all auto, that blows!

damn! that kicks ass!

I have always wanted one as a daily driver. Very comfy, some good muscle and driveable in the snow.

They are all AT though unfortunately, but a 5mt swap is pretty easy and not too expensive.

Over 2 tons? More like 3500-3600 lbs. Not "tossable" but not Explorer weight either.

Well, I got more details.

1994 Pearl White LSi. That's the all wheel drive. Leather, loaded.

Grr. Now I don't know what to do. I guess I'll decide when it's actually in my garage.

The Subie's gorgeous, but looks like I'm going to have to sell it.

I don't want to sell the 240, and I can't afford to insure and maintain two cars, particularly a subaru.

The car is immaculate (with the exception of the deer-fender, which my future father-in-law thinks he can fix) perfect leather, perfect suade trim, perfect dash. Perfect power. Perfect boxer six burble. Seems to shift fine too.

I wishwishwish I could keep it.

Know anyone who wants a Subaru?

Any motor can develop play in the crankshaft. Please don't try and make that out to be some kind of fatal flaw inherit only in a 4g63 motor.

And Evan, I'm sure those 4g63's that "exploded" were found in an Evo8 right? No, they weren't? You mean they were found in an older car? What? Those were 10 year old engines? And they failed on a hard day at the track? That makes me mad, hearing about a stock motor letting go at such a young age. Oh wait. They weren't stock? Their owners had actually done something to increase the power output of their vehicle? That is a total shame. I can't understand how an older, modified, tracked car could develop an engine problem.

Apology up front if somehow a Evo8 or late model DSM is actually what "exploded."

But yeah, please kids, 4g63 vs whatever those funny boxer engines are called isn't even a question.
