And those people have no clue the amount of $$ the equipment, trailer, transport, etc costs - as well as the skill involved to take good trackside shots and the time involved with it. Same self-absorbed consumer types that want everything yesterday in a pretty wrapped box, ready to microwave.
They've been at every event for the past 3-4 years - so clearly the formula works. If you dont want to pay it, then dont, and you dont have to complain about it.

Personally I would be much more willing to buy them in the $20-30 range than at $55 (duh... it's cheaper). The question is would they sell two or three times the amount of pictures, and I think they would. But this is coming from a guy who's just doing DE's and not driving a racecar which may have sponsors to send things to.

I understand the argument, its just stupid. If you are charging 1/3 as much, you have to sell to a far larger number of people to maintain the same level of profit, and if the current pricing structure is working (which it obviously is) then why lower prices?

When I had my ITR, I was spending ~$250-300 per weekend if you average out the costs of tires, fluids, brake parts, hotel cost, gas, etc. Add in entry fees ($300-350) and you're spending ~$600 per weekend for the average HPDE entry.
$55 isnt chump change, but if you're doing several events each year its a small hit on the budget to get some nice track shots once or twice a year.

i'm assuming that (ok, 3 times as many at $20 might be a stretch) twice as many people would buy the downloads at $30. there is no additional overhead for selling 2x the number of digital prints. you've got a degree (i think), 60 > 55.
more money = good
more people saying they buy your pics = good

i figure i'm spending about 100 per weekend... 55 for some pictures? heh.
