Why?

$55 is cheap for good track shots.

except euroimage sucks.

and not everyone places a high value on some pictures of their car, regardless of the relative market prices.

I dont think they suck, but they're hit and miss. Some weekends they get great shots, others they're just so-so. I would end up buying pics from them once, maybe twice a year.

They got some good pics, but I am going to wait till my friend lets me know, plus my sister is a professional photographer and she will do it for free for me when I finally convince her down for a weekend, maybe VIR but it is so far away (thats the issue to convince).

its all a matter of opinion i guess. i hate their shots. too zoomed in, and not much life to the photos (although much better than it used to be).
the guy who runs it has no interest in cars or motorsports, he just does it for the $$, and i think that shows in his work.

$55 is a rip for euroimage shots... he got some good shots of my car that i'd like to have, but i'm not about to pay more than $20 to download them all.

Only thing I dislike about Euroimage shots is it's just of the car with no attention paid to the background or surrounding area. One of my favorite things about shots of cars on track is the area around them, see what part of the track they came from, where the car is now, and where they are going, not just the picture of the car with no regard to what's going on around it.

Do you think you can buy the gear, the trailer, the equipment, etc and come to the track and make a profit for less?

i dont blame ya DJ. $55 to a college student is a keg. i'm not willing to pay $55 now, let alone back when i was a poor college kid. besides, as stated before, enough friends take pics that there's sure to be atleast one decent shot.

speaking of which... anyone got my 137X blue miata in any pics?

I just paid $80 for a CD of my car at Mid Ohio, so its not that Im not willing to pay for it, its that Euroimage blows ass.
The shots that I did pay for were fantastic, had multiple photogs on the track at once, and *gasp* actually knew how to properly shoot a car on a racetrack.

I guess thats where we disagree - and even if he gets 3x as many customers at 1/3 the price, you havent made any more money and created 3x as much work once the photos are shot, so whats been gained?

But you still didnt answer the question Wink

The price of trackside photos doesnt bother me, because good shots arent easy to get. But most of the time (like, 90%) the shots do not look good and I dont buy them. When they're good, they're nice to have, but I wont pay $50-80 for 10 piss poor pictures - I can get those for free.

I agree. All it seems like he does it set the focus in one spot and clicks a button as the car gets in the 'sweet' spot. I've seen shots from other trackside photo guys and they really get in the action so to speak, they get the surrounding cars and you sort of get a feel for whats going on. Now I have tons of euroimage pics hanging up in my office, I also have tons of pics taken by random people/friends that have captured the 'action'. I do wish he'd mix up the shots a little.

But I'm w/ RJ, $55 is a pretty low price considering all his overhead.
