Opinions Wanted - Painting the XR4Ti (56k Beware)

On a whim I sent a sponsorship packet to a Cosworth company in the Pacific NW a few months ago for a competition they were having. I didn't win, but I did one better (IMO) and got 1st runner up. This means I get a full Cosworth RS500 body kit but don't have to do anything other than the shows and track events I currently attend :-).

I'm really excited as you can imagine.

I think Chad is the only one that has a clue of what the RS500 kit is. basically, I'll go from this:

(minus the BBS wheels and mine will be much lower)

Kit comes in unfinished fiberglass, which I take as a perfect opportunity to paint the car. I want your ideas here! (Scotty, care to throw out some ideas if you have time?)

I will repaint the car Black. However, it's a race car, and I want it to look like one! Stripes, two tone, logos, etc. The main secondary color needs to be white if we can make it look good. Also, note the difference in the rear side window on my car and a real Cosworth (mine's two-piece).

So, if anyone gets bored, inspired, or just wants to help me out and throw up some designs it'd be great!

one idea: do a black and white cop-car design to it of some sort. Do the horizontal/angled stripe over the top and doors, with a design ont he doors for your numbers - black circle, snazzy numbers. I can picture it looking cool, but don't have photoshop anymore so can't really show you.

Just have it redone in a jet black, maybe with some candy flake in it to give it that purplish / bluish look when the light hits it right and pop on some black wheels with a chrome lip. Done and done!

Regarding "Looking like a racecar":

Some folks (Ok, me and my brother in law, but maybe others) always comment on how amazing Chad's car looks on track...especially in a race group. We came to the conclusion that this is because it's so unfettered by "typical" race car livery.

Just something to consider.

How much 'fitting' needs to be done on that body kit? There's more pieces to it than I remember. To make it really look good there's going to be some trimming/fitting that needs to be done, and with a shiny black paint, it will show each and every mistake. Better stock up on some bondo! lol

A few more ideas. Ignore the NACS logo, and where they have blue I'd have white....

I agree! but then we have to learn how to pin stripe as well :lol:
