Just got around to perusing some French car mags that Caitlin brought back for me earlier this year... In them? Tons of amazing cars and watches (really, half the mags were watch ads)... and... the Volvo C30.
We'll likely never get it ("Volvo North America is currently evaluating the possiblity"), but I want it bad. My only complaint is the rear end and its quirkiness AND I'd really like some AWD. If it had AWD? Automatic purchase when/if it got here.
Comes with one of a bunch of engines (Gas 1.6-2.5, Diesel 1.6-2.4, Flex 1.8)... The only ones that matter (to me) seem to be:
2.5L T5 - 220hp @ 5000, 236ft-lbs @ 1500, 0-60 in 6.6, 19/36mpg, 3134lbs
2.4L D5 - 180hp @ 4000, 258ft-lbs @ 1750, 0-60 in 8.2, 25/44mpg, 3260lbs

that rear is a bit odd looking but its hot. seems a bit heavy for not having awd, but still very cool. i'd hit it

Sorry, I was just saying that it's all the same car, and it doesn't really get my automotive blood pumping. Plus, I really like the DISI four opposed to the inline 5.

Although it is funny/annoying though, the 2.5L turbo makes less HP than YOUR 2L non-turbo. Granted there's a whole buncha torque there.... But I bet they could have got that easy out of a 2L, maybe a 1.8 if they tried.
And yeah, I don't think anyone even considers a diesel these days without a turbo. No such thing.

love the front 3/4 view, and volvo quirkiness can be fun. not a fan of haldex AWD though. and that rear end is atrocious (although most likely very, very practical judging by sight lines and hatch opening).
and turbo 5's may belong in audi's but i'd take it any way i could get it for the noise they make.....mmmmm so hot

If it were a balls to the wall sports car, sure they could. A Volvo 3-door is not in the same category as an S2000  People buying these want torque/drivability.

I dunno, your mom makes about 180hp naturally aspirated. How about, "needs more turba!" The more PSIs the better I always say. Cars is probably pretty light too...well before they added the moose catcher and the 800 airbags. 220hp is rather stout none the less.
