Paper Writing Tip

I found this earlier today on another forum and gave it a try on a few of my old papers and it did lengthen them. If you've got one of those papers that you just can't seem to make as long as the professor wants, give this a shot.

that's fantastic....i'm pissed i didn't know about this back when i had to write a bunch of stupid 10 page art history papers

OK, I just went back and tried that on a paper I wrote earlier this semester. By replacing the periods and the commas it changed from 16 pages to a full 20 pages, why am I just learning this now.

...or you could just change the line spacing to 14pt... which is what this is effectively doing. You guys never messed with line spacing to make papers longer?

lol, I use to make my own fonts and adjust the kerning to space the letters out from each other just a little. That's what happens when you make a CS major take a history class...

yeah, imo it wouldn't be too hard to notice the difference in size between 14pt lines and 12pt lines.

Ha ha ha, actually.. I'm very jealous that I didn't utilize ninja tactics such as these. Even as a complete stoner (yes... 1400 SAT completely and utterly stoned out of my face) I did manage to hold it down without undercover tactix such as these.

as a math/cs major, i dont think I ever wrote any paper longer than 10 pages. I did however have to write several proofs that were many pages long, and I'm sure harder to write than a research paper.

Some of my teachers used to just require a specific word count. There's no getting around it with spacing, margins or font size that way.

you probably never had that problem, just used a lot of really, small words right :lol:

haha....i actually thought the same thing - cause i'm sure they just counted the words on a random line, and then multiplied that by the line count - unless you had to submit the e-copy.

Dude! You had a mage for a roomie? Those probably werent religion papers, they were probably spells and curses! Did you have anything bad going on, not being able to hook up with the ladies, or shoes coming untied all the time or something? I bet this explains it!

Me? My roommate was a religion major, he was a senior and the RA, he ended up becoming a priest...
