These schools are worth every penny - if you even autox a few times a year, beg, borrow, steal the money and go Smile

Big props to BRR for getting the school together!

no real need to clog up this thread with the debate, but $220 buys you a LOT of seat time, and Im not convinced you wont be better doing it that way anyway...I have gotten the overview of the "cirriculum" from someone who has done lots and I think spending that $$ on regular events (a whole seasons worth) along with an experienced driver coaching you (not hard for anyone to find help) would be the more cost effective solution.
FWIW, I turned out to be a strong autoXer after only 1 season and I certainly didnt do a school.

Anyway, to each his own, and if this is something that you feel is worthwhile then by all means go for it! But to "beg, borrow, or steal" for the casual autoXer IMO this is not worth it.
There are usually much lower cost schools that each region puts on once or twice a year. I know WDCR used to do this, and afaik they still do.

Sure, but doing an evo school certainly would have helped you, or anyone else - whether you're a noob or have been doing this 10 years.

The problem I have with the seat time vs. school cost with autox is, its tough to gauge and make improvements when you are only doing 3-4 runs at a time several weeks or months apart - its not like a HPDE where you are going to get lots of seat time anyways. With the school you get 1 on 1 instruction, all day, and 50-60 runs. When I took my school, everyone there made big improvements - and most of the group were decent autoxers to start with.

so your speculating is more right than my speculating
you're an idiot.

not to mention I never said they werent beneficial. I said they may not be worth the money, especially for a casual autoXer.

Someone very expereienced at these told me that you basically pay $220 for someone to say "keep your eyes up" after every run.

Ok, well, I got a lot more better instruction than that for my $400. No speculation, and the time it was a big hit on my budget - I felt like i got my money's worth and more.

YMMV. I would do it again. If there are spots open as the school gets closer I may sign up, since I'm planning on doing the 4 WDCR "pro solo" events.

If you consider the cost of the event entry and the gas to/from... you dont get that many autox events for $220. Thats what, 4 events @ $50 ea? ($30 entry, $20 gas - not to mention tire wear.

i'm not speculating; i've heard reviews from a handful of people back when i was considering taking the course. nobody had a single bad thing to say.

I did the 1 day school a few years back, my instructors were Sam Strano and Dean Sapp, they said a WHOLE lot more than 'keep your eyes up', if you don't know who they are, then AX isn't really your thing I guess. Personally, you WILL learn something in the school, no matter how long you've been axing. If 220 is worth .1-5 seconds is up to you. For the seat time and to just have fun flogging your car around some cones its a blast, and with the rising cost in HPDE its a deal.
