Probably real eatate costs. Just a guess, though.

Its probably a "crazy" bad O2 sensor.
Why do people just post what they are thinking? Without thinking.

my car has only suffered one electrical problem in it's lifetime (been in our family since new) and it was easily fixed. i hate to say it though but i think i've been lucky. also, CELs practically don't count on these cars because the bosch ECU is sensitive as hell and will light up for all kinds of reasons, usually not important

I figured I would say my on topic piece first. I really think the storage deal is cool. I can't see how it is any better then a multi-level car park, at least not cost wise, but it is VERY cool. As for VWs with electrical problems, every one I have ever known has had something funky up with the wiring. Every one I have ever worked on at work, every used car, and every one owned by a friend has had something up accept for one. A used car on our lot right now, a 2002 Jetta Turbo. But just because that is what I have run up against does not mean its the norm. I'm just saying from most of the older more busted VWs I come in contact with there is something strange happening with the electronics...and I have noticed the bulb thing too. Alot of very new VWs and Audis with lights out, it must be Bosch or whoever makes their lights. Anything Bosch on a TD sucks...which is alot of it.

Good lord I think we have a winner for most cars owned of one make! Then again maybe Jeff is close...

Close?! CLOSE!?!

12 Chrysler/Plymouth/Dodges I think they all count as one "make" I have had 7 brandmarked as "Dodge" Now not all of them have been on the road, and not all of them have been even close to a daily driver, but I have owned 12 of the sorry pieces of shit in the past 4 years....wow...kinda sets me back in my seat...wow... Have all of those been "your car" blair? Like ones you had and drove for like a few months then sold them?

Just for shits and giggles, I know I have listed them a few times, but I can't help myself.

I was bored, so for interest I did the [in/out] prices for each car. What I paid for each car (or in two cases, my parents paid) and what the car/its parts were sold for. In all cases carcasses brought no money, so the figure is a total of its parts. These are not "profits" per say, most of them are but on the Lebaron and the Spirit there was a lot of work done to get them to where they were when they sold. Spirit was a SLIGHT profit, the Lebaron was break even.

CEL deff. dont count as electrical problem. like scotty said they are WAY to sensitive and one modded at all they pretty much just come on. mine had been on since late 98 and hasnt gone off since. the common knowledge among VW owners is that if the check engine light is on ignore it is the car still runs the same. but yea i can see if people ( that arent into cars) just go along and say they have electrical problems because of a CEL then they are totally right. my dad has an 03 jetta wagon TDI and the damn check engine light comes on every other day( its totally stock and runs awesome) i told my dad if it runs weird or stops getting 50 mpg then let me know. I scan the car and clear the codes all the time.. but at a point its just pointless

CEL's in a VW-AUDI is pretty much standard...(enthusiats all know this)

In typical for the cars you have flipped, what typical things have you done? Is along the line of engine swaps, or just getting the body in order?

it's unfortunate for vw/audi that enthusiasts aren't a large market.

i'm seriously considering getting one of these shirts, someone on vwvortex made them:

and i don't know Mike, VAG is fully aware of how big the enthusiast market is for their brand. Rumors have been confirmed in the past that many VW corporate leaders scan VW message boards to get feedback and better understand the "scene." I think if you look back 10 years at dub/audi and look at their brand now, they have transformed it quite a bit to meet enthusiast demands.

i agree with that, but what i was saying was regarding financials. you can't run an auto company (unless you're a truly pretigious brand) by only selling to enthusiasts. the "common people" get scared by CELs and will not buy if they know they exist.
