Which part of the site is slow?

So, has anyone investigated how much lag the Google ads cause on the site? I'm not a Supercomputer Administrator like some of the guys here, but I do notice I get the "Waiting for...ads.google.com" on the bottom of my browswer window quite often while waiting on a page to load.

Update: PM'd Jack and hoping to get server info to begin an upgrade to phpBB 3 sometime soon. As soon as I get that information, I can get rolling.

If you've done work on the site before (John Chapin, Adam, Rex?, anyone else) and have any information that you think I should know, please PM me!

I block them (don't even contact the server for them) so that isn't the cause. The cause is 100% database.

just an observation, but hondashadow.net has a very similar setup to our site, and it's wonderful. i can ask one of the mods there what they're using if you want?....jake? just throwing this out there, not sure what's been done as of yet...

Looks like their forum runs on the same software (phpBB) just with a different (aka un-modified) theme. Not sure about the rest of the site. It doesn't appear they are using a content management system.

Hopefully I'll have a proof-o-concept up sometime this next week for everyone to peruse, offer comments, suggestions, or hate mail towards. It's looking pretty good so far.

excellent. like i said, i noticed some pretty similar characteristics and thought i would give my 2 cents. literally 2 cents. i know nothing about this stuff, you might as well be speaking portugese.
