Welp. That's..."over". To the surprise of precisely nobody, the GOP listened to the overwhelming majority of their constituents and didn't vote to remove the president from office, on a nearly party line vote. Pierre Delecto was the only sheep who strayed, again to the surprise of nobody, but he's got a different group of voters to answer to.
I thought Clicky-pow this article was lovely and levelheaded. You should read it.
Now.... THE IOWA PRIMARY. Boy have i got opinions. Can someone, and I mean this sincerely, explain why the DNC thought it was a good idea to commission software for voting TWO MONTHS AWAY from their primary? Good God, y'all, for all of the focus and spotlight of election integrity why would you do ANYTHING like this?! I honestly can't understand it.
As of right now though, it looks like Mayor Pete and #FeeltheBern are neck and neck and honestly those two wouldn't be the worst ticket for the Dems to choose, especially with Bernie as VP, where he can advocate for all kinds of goofy shit but not actually DO much of anything.
Gonna be another weird year y'all, buckle up.

on Iowa... go to Mayor Petes website and tell me his solutions. Cliff Notes: its to SPEND money, huge government, and the government is the solution to all. And his titles for "areas of action" are really centric but the language in them is much more Bernie. The Mayor is a wolf in sheeps clothing IMHO. at least Bernie is open about his antics.

Because no one has any fucking clue what it takes to build custom software, no one, not even the engineers that make everything. Making an app in 2 months sure? Sure. Testing, deploying and bullet-proofing an app in 2 months? hell no.

most of the interviews i have caught ... they Senators werent talking about what constituents want for the impeachment, but how they feel on it. neither of those is correct in the grand scheme, they needed to vote on the evidence.... they are essentially supposed to be the impartial jury, that we know isnt impartial.

Well impeachment and removal from office is a political process, not a judicial one. Did you read the article I posted? I really did think it was quite good.

It was always a political process, and was called out in the federalist papers, even. I'm fine with that, and I never really expected Trump to be removed.
What I am not fine with is the way the senators conducted themselves. If there had been an open discussion, across party lines, about what this means and does it clear the bar for removal - I would be ok with whatever the outcome was. But that’s not what happened and the republicans buried their heads in the sand, attacked the process, lied, and grand stranded with bullshit like claiming they were shut out and storming into a SCIF with cell phones. All so they can continue to kill bills in the senate and push their shit agenda. The senators first admitted they didn’t follow the House proceedings, or read the documents, declared they were in lockstep with the president, and yet also stated there was nothing to learn in the trial. There was no engagement in good faith to get to the truth and fulfill the oaths they made.
I guess we will see in November what backlash, if any, the republicans will face. At the moment, they are fumbling the football hard and cant get their game together - focusing on "not trump" only puts more focus on him and we'll get 4 more years of it. Change the narrative, please, and put the conversation back to real issues that will help real americans. There are large swaths of this country that are not in good shape - and they arent any better off than they were 4 years ago.

I mean this is one way to get the proper votes for a constitutional amendment. Seems pretty one sided, semi tyrannical, and not inclusive of everyones opinion... but sure.

Considering said constitutional amendment would need to be approved by the very branch it's looking to amend who was already proven that, even if it's the will of the majority of the country, they will not listen. yeah. That would be the only way.

let me get in my rocking chair for this one...
back in my day, Reps and Dems would agree to what the issues are and then begin the discussions on the compromise. Lately its been "my way or the highway" from both sides and its got peoples emotions extremely high. That and they cant seem to agree on what the issues actually are (so that really doesnt help).
please realize what you all are calling for is totalitarianism. Historically, this is a very bad idea.
Now, there are a lot folks in the house and senate that have been around for this discussion and compromise on both sides... and they have abandoned that tradition for the current "show."
