Because you're paying for services not rendered? If they undervalue a bike that you JUST paid X$ for, you're getting effed. take them to court, and get a new insurance company.

you know you're just being a douche to be a douche when you forget that i had an accident before that, which i have no problem saying was 100% my fault.
again, you weren't there, shut the fuck up.

Why is everybody so damn litigation happy?
"I don't think this is a fair value, here's a subpeona" isn't exactly an appropriate reaction.

Quote:When you have kids you introduce an incredible burden on your life, and often of the rest of your family - so its a bit selfish to then look at them and accuse them of burdening you. Know what I'm getting at? If you werent involved in something 'high risk' then you're not suddenly off the hook of being at risk of burdening your family in some way.
You did not need to list the burdens but you left out something very important...the burden evolves over time. A parent has every right to ask an independent grown child to not engage is riskier than necessary behavior that could result in reverting that burden to the daily tending of that child. His moms job/burden of changing diapers and tending to his daily basic survival needs has passed. It is the responsibility of the child to minimize the risk of putting that burden BACK on his parents. Selfish is a two way street.
For example...if my 4 year old has an accident in his pants, I will clean him and change him. If my 14 year old does the same...she is on her own, that burden has passed. Many more examples exist...
And asking your child not do something that scares the shit out of you is not selfish, it's being a parent.

I have a little bit of a rub near lock but if you are turned to lock on a track there are other problems already...
Late addition: I got my deductible reimbursement in the mail last night. I didn't have to ask for it, much less fight tooth and nail. Through this whole thing, I've been incredibly impressed with Progressive. While Allstate was busy trying to underhandedly get me to sign away any claims I could have made to personal injury, Progressive did a great job of seeing I got what I deserved. They took good care of JayRay, too, which I think says a lot because in his accident, he was at fault. I'll be sticking with them for a while, for sure.

just another data point... when i made a claim against a progressive member (as a member of state farm), i had a hell of a time. they wouldn't pay for quality repairs, they were awful about returning calls, and to this day i'm still working with them to get an f'ing scratch on my bumper (the actual accident) fixed properly.

Is progressive motorcycle insurance a different group than auto insurance?

The thing both these situations have in common is the problem is with the other persons insurance company.
Mike, Andrew's quick resolution was the reason why I told you to get your insurance company involved. It's much easier to get your own company to take care of you then it is someone else's. If the other company shits on you, what business do they lose?

Kind of... same phone numbers, different 'team'. JayRay and I had the same case worker even though our situations were totally different. I'm sure you remember her She was a motorcycle/rv/pwc agent for Progressive - they're a specialized unit since repair and valuation is often a bit different than cars. It's advantageous in that you get -all- the big company benefits in addition to all the small group benefits. I'm kind of surprised at how happy I am.

I completely agree with Andrew. Of all the claims i've made (6 through USAA auto and my motorcycle claim through progressive) the Progressive claim was the easiest by FAR. No hassel, good numbers, and a great agent.

i think they're very different, but i think it really depends on the agent, the manager, and the team for it to be a good experience.
and yes i do remember her....i'll make a facebook-like comment...i'd poke her
Well, this is un-fucking-believable. I came home tonight and had a subpeona to appear in court as a witness about the goddamn accident.
The woman that ran a stop sign and HIT ME is now contesting the ticket and saying she didn't break any laws. Apparently this is well beyond the regular "Not Guilty" court appearance. I'm really angry, at this point. You hit me with a 4,000 pound SUV and try and shirk the insurance claim.... alright, that's shitty, but I let it go. But you seriously believe you didn't do anything wrong? What the fuck is wrong with you?
I didn't bring it up before, because I was just trying to be decent. But when I go in to court (on Monday, btw), I'm going to bring up that she didn't stop when she hit me. I'm sure it's too late to file intent-to-flea charges, but it will go a long way towards establishing her lack of situational awareness.

you got a lawyer? i'm sure she does...
It's VA vs. Her, not her vs me. I'm clear at this point, just a witness, no need for me to get a lawyer.
