i liked motul as well but it can be pricey and hard to find.

hmsmotorsport.com, ltbmotorsport.com... its easy.

I've tried redline, and I didnt think it shifted as smoothly as the Motul stuff.

The Motul oil that I used to break in the STi's engine was some of the best and most expensive stuff I've ever seen. It literally smelled like bubble gum. Too expensive for a daily driver though =/

I've actually got a new uninstalled set of Hella's that need a good home. I'll dig them up tomorrow and put 'em in the for sale section.

i definitely could use these as i laid on the horn for a good 2 minutes straight at a minivan that cut me off on the way to work this morning.

the new RSB feels really nice. still rolls alot but the initial turn in is way better and once settled takes a pretty nice neutral stance in corners. i think a good alignment and a fatter FSB are up next.

For the first two or three changes (at 100 miles and 250 IIRC, I don't remember exactly what they were) the cheapest possible dino oil was used. Before the dyno tune, it was switched to Motul synthetic and I ran Mobile 1 15w50 while I owned it.

I'd probably see what you can get at the best price between the Bobcats, DS2500s, and HPS/HP+s. I'll get some price quotes for you and you can compare them to what you can get.

Shea, don't mean to be a pain in the butt, but if you do have any pricing on these can you let me know? my front pads will be gone soon and i'd like a good high performance pad. the stock pads are pretty weak.

i loved my old HP+'s (especially for the price) but they were just too noisy, i couldn't stand the squeeling. i was very pleased with my DS2500's on the A4 and i'd also like to try the 'cats.

i'd need either RS specific or 2002 WRX specific pad types (they changed the WRX caliper in mid-03)

if anyone has any other opinions on DS2500's or bobcats lemme know.



in other news, i love me some rear sway bar. this thing is so much better with some rotation! looks like a 25mm Tribeca front sway bar will fit too....for $50 from the dealer! mewhahhaha

Oakos Automotive had really good pricing on break kits... I believe that's where I got an awesome deal on the Powerslot rotor / HPS pad combo for my STi. Check them out, I'm pretty sure they have a thread in the brake section on NASIOC vendor pages. Good to deal with and quick shipping too.

I don't see any HPS stuff right off the bat in that thread, but check out their website, they might have some stuff. All of those NASIOC vendors compete with each other, so if you can find the lowest price, anyone would probably price match.

Scotty check out WRXBrakes.com or BrakeSwap.com. I only have personal experience with the first one but know of people that have used the second with no problem. If you want some more information, I can give you the e-mail or AIM of the owner of the first site, hes a great help in assisting with what brakes fit your needs the best. He also keeps a lot of stock on hand and can have them to you very quickly. I normally get his shipments within a day. Sorry, I haven't had an opportunity to directly get price quotes but I believe most everything is on that site and if you talk to him directly his prices are normally slightly lower than what is listed.

'04 STi struts/springs/top hats aquired

couldn't pass 'em up at the price/milage. gonna pick them up tonight (ok almost aquired), then install and align. if i don't like them i have no doubt i can sell them for profit.

i'm really looking forward to the sportier ride and lower height. aside from tires, maybe a front sway bar and maybe an anti-lift kit, the suspension will be done after this.

i can worry about stopping later!

Great pickup and all good choices for suspension modifications. Just to let you know, you WILL experience rear strut clunk on those STi struts if they already don't already have this occurence. Mine just started, best solution get some of that Mobil1 Synthetic grease and put some on the lower portion of the strut shaft... I recently did this and it fixed most of the noise.

I had actually purchased an ALK but never got around to installing it so I since sold it but may pick one up, you'll have to let me know how much of a difference it makes... I've heard great things.

thanks for the heads up! i have some mobil chassis grease and with the struts off the car i'll be sure to prep them.

i'm just going on heresay as well, they seem inexpensive but pressing bushings is a job for another guy so it will be last on my list due to labor costs. i'll let you know if anything happens with that.

not a fun sound! on light throttle openings going up a grade or full throttle/high rpms going up a grade, 87 pings like a mother even in this mild weather. 89 is managable but i can still get it to ping if i want to. its been doing this for a little while but i wanted to be sure i didn't get a bunk tank of gas.

no CEL, so my knock sensor isn't bad. after researching it seems like this isn't a totally isolated incident. some subies were equipped from the factory with trashy champion brand plugs, which after 30k will probably be pretty demolished. i might also be pulling oil into the engine if the PCV is junk which of course doesn't help my octane ratings.

these are 30k mile maintenance items anyhow, which works out because i won't go to the dealer for a raping on easy replacement items like these anyway. so i'm hoping i'm just experiencing wear on these parts. if it doesn't help i will be going to the dealer, however.
