It'll probably be a while before I do much part switching around...damn import parts are expensive as shit! Not to mention - I'm not really sure what you can and can't do and still maintain a factory warranty. Are there any smallish upgrades you can do and not fuck that up?

you could probably do a computer re-flash and MBC and nobody at a dealship would know unless they were running diagnostics, i think. not to mention that STi and legacy gt parts are nearly identical in appearance, except for that red intake manifold. you could probably swap a few things and it would look just the same.
i've heard of evo guys (mitsu is real anal on warranty issues with those cars) doing stuff like that, with maybe injectors and a fuel pump thrown in, and unless you're either an evo-phile or know the tricks of the trade you won't notice except when you drive it :twisted:
definitely get out there and auto-x dude! that's what so many of us here do, if anything we can give a helping hand and you never know, you might like it alot.

ECU reflash is a definite option considering it ups your boost a bit and is completely reversible.. I'd avoid the MBC to avoid any problems down the road. Little things like a K&N panel filter... catback exhaust.. minor suspension upgrades, won't get you in too much trouble based on the warranty. Anyways, get on some Subaru forums and do some searches, all of these topics have been discussed 100s of times and have great information. Enjoy the ride, just don't go overboard and you'll be fine.
I got two free passes to the dragway that the dealership owns too - so I'll probably go to a T & T coming up soon, see what kind of times I can get out of it. It's always good to have a baseline anyway - and get something more true to my driving than what is in a magazine.
I've heard that the only difference is a chip flash and intake is the only difference between the two motors, but I'm not totally sure(maybe I heard one of you guys say that?) . That'd be the best way to add ~50hp if that were true, and the cheapest way too. I was checking out these intake and exhaust packages, and they are ridiculous, so I'll probably wait until warranty runs out and just get a system custom fabbed for like 1/3rd the cost. I dont know shit about FI, so it's time to learn I suppose. Changing the components around probably isnt too bad of a job, just need to do some research and find out what's what.
I'm sure I would like to auto-x, just never really had a car to do it in before. Well, that I wanted to do it in before. My SS would have body roll like a mother, i'd guess. Tight turns would make it break traction all the time if you got on it too soon - which may make me hit a cone, which may put a small dent in my basically flawless paint - so I was a bit scared to try that.

Shelor? if so, we bought my sister's legacy there too.
there are more differences between the STi and legacy motor than just programming and intake stuff. the turbo in the legacy/forrester/baja is smaller and i believe the intercooler and exhaust is smaller in those too.

thats funny, we felt they same way after leaving first team since they treated us like a bag of asses. the legacy my sister bought had paint problems which made us go through a run around with Shelor but they came through eventually.
because they're so big, you just have to ride 'em to make sure they get your stuff done.
