haha that rocked, never raced karts in the rain before. Or gotten to pour the last little bit of my beer on G as he came (slowly) down the front straight. Jess took some pics, maybe she'll put up some good ones later. We didn't come in last, hooray! Pete and a very motivated Chad kicked all our asses.

Gerald, I'm sorry you had a bad kart. Skeeter (the kart boss) looked me in the eye last night and told me they were all the same and that we had the best of the bunch for the enduro. Why didn't you pit in and switch to another one? They had like 5 spares on hand
At any rate, I had a blast during the enduro... Team Cobetto Fanclub started 12th and ended up 2nd (with 3 drivers and 2 pit stops.) Our kart was fine, the track conditions were what made it interesting. My first stint in the drying wet was one of my all time favorite drives. Thanks again to all the MMers who came out to play. I'll have results online soon... Good night, Jon

my kart felt fine to me. I'd agree, driving the first stint on the wet asphalt as it dried, was an absolute blast.
for the record Jon, i was not being a jackass when I pitted and spun on the slick floor. I may have come in hot, but you get used to being able to stop on dry pavement, then drive down a wet road and brake on a surface nowhere near the traction level you are used to, and a recipe for disaster occurrs. I apologize if I made us look like apes, but it should have been mentioned when they were prepping us and I don't feel that it was entirely my fault. I like the way it was remedied though and I kinda feel that it needed to happen so that they can be prepared for their next events, as I'm sure this is not the first time it has ever occurred. Thanks a ton for organizing such an excellent event and arranging it in such a matter that it went off so smoothly. I had a blast and I think I speak for all of us that it was a fantastic experience that we would definitely like to participate in again.

I agree, the karting was a blast, sorry if I drove any of you guys hard (I kinna feel bad for what I did to Sean now, nah, not really, it was pretty funny) but after the day I had on the big track, the kart race was JUST was I needed. BIG props to pete for holding onto the lead and extending it some more :-D
07-30-2006, 11:17 PM
That pit situation was not your fault at all, or anyone else's who came in too hot before we put the cones/spotters/flags out - and we knew that no intentional jackassery took place. We just didn't realize how slick that pit entry road was until we saw people trying to get stopped (semi-dry pavement on track + wet pavement on downhill pit in + wet tires on dry concrete in the pit shed = slippy for sure.)
It was a tense moment at the time, but Skeeter and I immediately and unanimously decided that it was an honest mistake and that your team would certainly be allowed to continue. Then we fixed it for everyone incoming. So thanks for your post, but don't sweat it - we knew what was up once we saw it happen and we fixed it shortly thereafter. Plus, we all learned something for next time  Thanks again, Jon
